Weather Tech Window Deflectors

Just got weather tech window deflectors on my 2009 off road tacoma. The windows arent going up all the way and when I push them to the limit to get them up it squeks. I believe its rubbing on the back of the window deflectors. There isnt enough room for both of them to fit I guess. Im 99% sure I installed them correctly so are there any ideas to get the windows to roll up all the way flawlessly? Or anyone who has had the same problem as me?

 

Mine are doing the same thing. I thought it may have been because it was cold out when I installes them... I'll see if it still does it when it warms up a bit.

 

Mine do this, it's just them squeezing together to fit. No worries

 

I thought it was just cause it was cold also and the rubber wasnt molding right to it.... will the window motors run out or burn out over time if it keeps rubbing up against the deflectors?

 

The way I see it, it's less strain on the motor than if you held down the window up switch while the window was already up (ie not moving). The window motors are designed to cope with quite a bit of this behavior. It's a little annoying to know that they rub, but have confidence that you're not harming the motor.

Interesting history: In the late 90's it was discovered that some people (particularly adolescent females) liked to play with the buttons while riding/driving and were contributing to early failure of the motors. Most manufacturers have since equipped more durable motors to prevent early failure.

 

I've read other reports of the Weather Tech window visors having fitment issues. I'd get the widows up all the way and not roll them down for a month to try to get the plastic to conform (best to do during the summer.) Another option I'd try is to heat the plastic up and then raise the window...let cool down completly before checking the fitment.
