Back in my racing days, I loved it when a boarder would run into me. We wear thick hard shin guards, our poles have hand cover guards (great for punching), and our race suits had big thick pads in them, all of this to protect you from hitting the gates at 50+ mph. Well, imagine it being like a suit of armor. I had a snowboarder come ride into the course while I was racing, cut right in front of me. I couldn't stop/slow down, and I was going about 45 mph. I had no choice but to hit him, or risk going into the trees. I hunkered down, charged up, and when he hit me, I gave it all I got. Just like hitting someone in football. The kid ended up with a broken collar bone, a concussion, 3 missing teeth, a voided season pass for violating posted signs, and a ticket for riding drunk. Oh, and I broke his snowboard bindings. I rolled a few times, but skied away from it. So, all in all, it was pretty fun. Stupid kid.

So I finally skied out west! I was in Utah for 3 days and spend a day at Snowbasin! It was freakin awesome! My wife and I are considering a move to Utah when she graduates, can't wait to get back out there again.

OK I'll be honest....My wife is a beginner. I went to buy tiks and the lady said you can buy an int ticket for about $30 each and that gets you these few lifts. It was already 1030 so I said sure, Ill upgrade if I want. Those few lifts offered about the same if not better than anything Ive skied in PA or WV, and the conditions I would say would be an avg to good day at 7 springs PA. I was fine with it. I would have loved to ski more, but ill be back again. I love Snowbasin, super friendly staff, service was top notch, lodge and bathrooms were worth visiting alone, and the food was great. All in all a great day spent with the wife.

Oh god not a splitboard... I've seen too many idiots come into the backcountry ski shop I worked at who wanted to rent a voile splitboard to use in the resort. Such a bad idea...

No they rented them here in Laramie from the ski shop I worked at, then took them up to our local area Snowy Range to use them. I even saw them up there using them.

Sunshine and Louise have more acres but Kicking Horse has more vertical feet at 3880 feet. They have all are pretty good and I usually go to Louise becuase its closer. Fernie is still my favorite as it always has a ton of snow and still close.

If you do decide to come up here I would recomend the above mentioned and look into also Revelstoke, Big White and White Water. I have not been to these three but have had great reviews from those who have gone there. There are plenty of awesome smaller ski hills as well.
