    You only have until October 31, 2010 to apply the CRT without affecting the Tacoma Frame Warranty Enhancement;

    The only states at this time doing it is: NJ, OH, IL, IN, MI, MN, WI, PA, CT, MA, RI, ME, NH, VT, KY, MD, DE, VA, WV

    I know there is a lot of talk about this issue, just wanted to share with the group

    I live in the Hudson Valley in NY and had my truck frame inspected yesterday I was told that it needed to be replaced. I own an 03 reg cab 4x4. They told me that I will be receiving a loaner while it was being repaired. I hope they can put it back together correctly. I have absolutly no confidence in them.

    It can't hurt to take it in for the free inspection. As long as it's on record it's warranted. I even got a free carwash out of the deal...

    Thanks! I checked out the videos and was quite amazed at the extent of the disassembly of the whole truck. I am sure they are going to forget to put back something. Thanks again!

    I recently bought an '01 Tacoma 4x4 (PA truck), it has had the frame coating from the dealer already. But when I called the dealer to confirm the warranty status, he led me to believe that since the coating has been applied, that's all I get... is that true? If a couple years from now the frame continues to rust through, they're no longer liable to replace it? Is there some documentation that explains how this situation would work?

    Thanks.

    Well from what I understand its warranty is 15 years, log on to the Toyota web site enter you vin # and there should be documenation on the frame sealant, and by the dealer that preformed it.

    Just had this done in DE. at first when i received the notice, my local dealer didnt have the equipment set up and assured me they would honor the warranty if they didnt have the equipment set up by oct 31. took it in, same day they recoated the frame, looks good. free rental car, no problems.
    i agree with you car 78412, wouldnt want the frame replaced. however i cant find the paperwork, but im pretty sure it said if the frame needs to be replaced, toyota will buy the vehicle back for 1.5 x the kbb "excellent condition" value, regardless of actual condition, what a deal ! sucks some of you are having issues, you would think toyota would do everything in their power to not lose any more customers. also im pretty sure the frame warranty is extended to 15 yrs.. hey redneck, heres to delaware, im up in newark

    When they sprayed your frame, did they coat the cross members? or the very front of the frame under the engine? My dealer, Schaumburg Toyota did not, saying those parts are intentionally not sprayed..

    Report your frame rust to the NHTSA, it's easy. Toyota custmer disservice told me I'm SOL with my '02. I planned on this being the last vehicle I ever purchased. Now i have a truck that can't be driven in the Rain or snow. I have to share a car w/ the old lady. Report!!!!!!

    Its is all about which dealership you talk to about it. My '02 is supposedly "no included" as well according to some of my local dealers...

    HOWEVER: Dunning Toyota in Ann Arbor, MI is outstanding! They are the ones who have posted most of the frame replacement vids on youtube. If you can ship it up there great, if not at least give them a call to get the real stats on the warranty to bring to a closer dealer.

    I just experienced this today too. I live near Boston and have a 2003 Tacoma which I bought new locally in Woburn. I recieved the recall letter in the spring and brought my truck during the summer for inspection, well before the deadline. At that time, it 'passed' the inspection and they told me it needed to be coated which was performed a few days later. They told me at the time that there was a 15 year warranty and that I should bring it in regularly for free inspections. This week (around six months after the coating being applied) I brought the truck in for an unrelated minor fix and to get my annual state inspection done. After a day of hearing nothing, I called them back and after a great deal of phone shuffling, I was told that my truck failed the frame inspection. The person on this call told me that 1) Toyota corporate needed to inspect it (but since it was xmas week not to expect anything), 2) since it was not 'safe' they would not put the new inspection sticker on it (so my truck at this point was taken hostage), and 3) that it was quite possible my frame would need to replaced and that I shoud arrange for a free loaner. After another two days of hearing nothing I called back again today to schedule a time to pick up my free loaner, at which point I was told that 1) Toyota corporate had still not looked at the truck and 2) that I would recieve no loaner and that Toyota was under no obligation to do anything due to the fact the coating was applied in the summer which ended any warranty extension and put them in the free-and-clear with no further obligation. After a long (and ugly) conversation, they finally relented and agreed to provide a loaner until Toyota corporate came out to inspect the vehicle, but they were adamant that there was no warrantly obligation and that any action was at the sole discretion of Toyota. Of course, all of my paperwork is with the truck (which I will retrieve tomorrow), but I find this hard to believe? The coating was their required corrective action -- but that corrective action (even if it fails) puts all the liability back on the owner? If this is the case, wouldn't they just pass 'failed' trucks, apply the coating, and then put it on the owner at a later date after one fo their 'free' inspections? How is it the truck was OK and then less than six months later it is unsafe -- either the inspection was flawed or the coating failed -- either seems to be Toyota's issue? I will review my paperwork when I can get it back tomorrow, but want to go into the dealership 'fully armed' so thanks for the link, but has anyone run into this situation (post coating frame failure) and heard such a response?

    Thanks in advance for the help....

    This is so so wrong. Why is Toyota running from there responsiblities to offer a SAFE Product. Why can't they just fix this problem without giving people the run around. This is not acceptable and should not be acceptable to any Toyota Tacoma owners, that Toyota knowingly stands behind the fact that they ARE PUTTING deadly rusted trucks out on the road and are doing nothing but saying it ON THE CONSUMER NOW!!! I SAY THAT STINKS BAD!!!!

    kjm24 any up dates????

    I hope things worked out. Has anyone considered parting out their Tacoma's if the frame frame is shot and Toyota says F.U.
