Carbon Fiber Dash Kit

Here are the pictures of my Carbon Fiber Dash Kit I got from Carid.com. It has 59 parts, and covers the full dash kit, over head, and center console. I went with the Remin kit since they offered “real” carbon fiber and not the sticker crap. I'll Try and get some pic's from outside the truck looking in later.

Install: Install was very easy, took about 2 hours. I used a heat gun to soften everything up before I installed the parts. All parts fit rather nice, only 2 of them had to be modified a little (cut about 1/32 off an edge). Getting the parts off the sticky board is harder than doing the actual install. The cleaning pads they supplied were junky so I used just rubbing alcohol and a clean, lint free cloth.

Pros: Looks amazing if you ask me. Easy install, Carid.com is a great place to buy with excellent customer service. It removes most of the ugly “taco silver” plastics. Everything was a great fit and again, easy to install.

Cons: There are parts of the dash kit that I’d say were missing from design. They are not missing from the schematics they gave me, but I think to give it a ‘complete’ look they should have had included 4 extra pieces. Some of the parts don’t meet up to the very edges; you can tell it was made this way. It’s not a big deal but it’s something I don’t like. Most of it I will end up just painting black to help ‘blend’ in.

I'd like it a lot better if it wasn't so shiny, looks cool though. The dash and console textures that came in the 2nd gens go good with that.

I would have wrapped in carbon fiber cloth available online. Its a lot more work but looks better imo.

 

Not a fan of this kit and looks cheap iMHO.

I did mine in the satin dry carbon look and I think its much better.

I'm not a huge fan of the gloss myself. I had Carid send me out samples of the Real carbon vs. the printed stickers and what not. I like the look of real carbon fiber and the print out's just didn't look all that great to me.

The carbon around the radio will be coming off soon when I replace the deck.. I'm working with Remin to see if they can make a part for me to fit an after market double din deck kit.

@RAD- That dry carbon is nice but it would of taken me a very long time to do that to every part of the truck I wanted to do. Looks sick tho! And I do thumbs up my carbon dash kit

 

The whole purpose of carbon fiber is to go lightweight. If this was a replacement kit, that would be cool. Basically you just put stickers all over your dash? Not for me.

 

For me its the look and to get rid of the ugly stock silver. If I was going for lightweight I wouldn't of bought a truck to begin with.

It isn't for everyone, but its a quick and easy way to spruce up the dash and get that ugly silver out of there.

OP.......is ur touchpad mounted there or is it just propped up there??? I like the look, was thinking about doing something similar.

 

I have it just laying there. I have the HP case for it and its kinda rubbery, so it stays really well. I haven't had it slide off or anything yet. I've been slowly working on a bracket that will mount it there for off-road use. Street use its fine right there.

There is a nice mount that attaches to the seat bracket on Amazon for about 30$ shipped. I have one in my integra and it works pretty good.

 

Not my cup-o-tea, but I can appreciate the work and effort that went into it. As long as you are happy with it, great job!

 

I wouldn't mind having the strip accross top of glovebox, under the climate control panel, under the gauge pod/around emergency brake handle (in place of the cubby on automatics) & the accross bottom row of switches for an accent strip and also the rings around the door handles (not the pulls by armrest) All of it is a bit much for me tho. Agreed, they should have provided the missing pieces for the full kit as OP mentioned. Looks like quality stuff. May look into getting just the pieces to make the accent strip.
