Wolves coming to California

Thought id put this is the northern california section since it mostly pertains to northern california people. what do you think about the wolves coming to california? good thing or bad thing?

 

Wolves anywhere are bad. They are much smarter than anyone gives them credit. Theres a reason they were taken out before.

Wolves are great

 

when I worked for the Forest Service on the Plumas there were several sightings of a white wolf on the east side of the forest. No pictures or other evidence to prove it but it'd be awesome to see one.

 

when your allowed to hunt them to help thin out the population, yes. in california you wont be able to hunt them.

 

Wolves are effective hunters. They're more effective in preserving healthy populations in wildlife species than humans, since wolves will tend to find the weakest individuals as prey while human hunters will tend to select the biggest healthiest target to bag.

Same thing with mountain lions.

Don't be too quick to discount as useless the species that are very effective in keeping vermin in check.

 

Explain why? Because they scare you?

 

they arnt. its when the state doesnt allow you to hunt them and they over populate that it becomes "bad"

 

So it isn't bad that wolves are going to California, it is bad that your state government is stupid.

 

Naturally, you'd tend to expect a guy with the handle "wolfpack" to weigh in on a discussion on wolves.

 

How do they taste? Never hunted wolves before.

Ever read the book "Never Cry Wolf" by Farley Mowatt? It's kind of one man's self deprecating tale of living one summer in prime wolf habitat. He observed a lot about them.

Eh, I've got bigger things to worry about. I've seen wolves in person while camping. Cool critters. Hope they don't become harmful to anyone or us to them.
