It was a few years ago :) 1999. I have had friends also get married/have reception at Moose Lodge also. We went with the Elks as I was a member, and the lodge was a perfect place for the wedding and pictures. (was on a golf course).

When my father in law went to pay the manager, and was told the price, his jaw dropped. He asked if he could add a 20% tip and was told that it was not necessary. "We take care of our members" was his response.

Of course, the videographer, DJ, flowers, cake etc was all on us, we managed it for around 7K by using a local Thriftway for the cake and flowers, a friend who did the video's. We took our time finding a good photographer that would not break the bank, and we were absolutely thrilled with the pics.

I guess what I am saying is if you are on a budget, don't discount things like looking at a Safeway bakery for the cake, or the florist for the flowers. Network with your friends on TW, or Facebook. Muzzle your mother in law up front!

You should ask how much it would be to have a wedding there now. Just out of curiosity.

That I can do. I go there everyday for lunch! I think they have an events "menu". It will be interesting to see the changes in cost.

if you need a wedding photographer check modelmayhemdotcom a lot of the photographers are really good and will do a wedding shoot for half the price of many wedding specific photographers.

You don't buy a ring that expensive unless you're making at least $100K/year. No woman is worth that much if it puts you in extreme financial pain.

Thank god for my girl who understands she has to pull her own weight.

Also, there is no way in hell I am spending anywhere near $20K on a damn wedding. I don't need 100 people to witness me getting hitched. Close family and lots of booze would be just fine. Big weddings are overrated.

Agreed... when/if I ever find a girl to get married to... I'd much rather have a smaller wedding with close family/friends in an awesome setting (like a mountain park or something) than some lavish 20k+ adventure. It's about your love for each other, not some big event imho.

Maybe I would feel different about big weddings if I felt like I had 50+ people (since half would be from the girl's side) that were worth inviting and paying for their food and drink. But the truth is, I don't. I like it that way.

A big party with closer people would be totally worth the money.

What tire size? I will check to see if my chains will fit.

Zach, you should be fine without chains. I mean it's good to have them just in case (I carry them), but I don't think you'll actually need to put them on. I don't know the condition of your tires though.

If any of you guys were thinking about doing some snowboarding, GO NOW! :D

Tons of fresh powder up at Timberline, even Government Camp probably got a good 6"+ inches today. :D

Easily 6" on the ground already, with more falling as we left. Timberline probably got at least double that.

I know they have traction tires/chains mandatory for the passes around here, I'm guessing it's going to be the same there Oregon side
