So I got a letter in the mail a few weeks ago about taking my truck in for a frame inspection! I called and made a appointment and they came back and to me they have good/bad news? The good news the frame failed the inspection! Not so good news to me but... The bad news was they couldn't do the buy back because it was 2 moths out of the 15 year warranty. I told the guy I just got the letter 2 weeks ago and he said there's nothing he can do about it. So I called cooperate to file a claime because the yota guy said it was unsafe to drive, I finally got to the head claim manager and she said that she couldnt do anything about it because it's out of the warranty!!! What should I do? I can't sell it cause I won't get much out of it due to the problem and I don't have the money to buy another Tacoma. Any suggestions? Anyone had this problem?

what? that sounds like a load of crap. your truck is a 96, that should be in the year ranges of the recall

sounds like a legal claim brewing to me...they send you a notice for a frame inspection, then tell you you aren't covered after it "fails?" sounds like a layup for a decent lawyer.

Yeah it is my truck came off the floor in September of 96 and I took it up there in November so it's 15 years and 2 months old? The warranty was for 15 years only.

I always find it interesting when people are angry that a company won't provide warranty coverage for a product that is not under warranty.

My cousin had the exact same problem and he called and they said there was nothing they could do so he got a new frame from a junk yard and plans on putting it on this week. that is the most affordable way of getting rid of the problem.

All in the salt belts where recalled. Mine(95.5) was also because i bought the truck in chicago and lived there for 4 years before moving down south. toyota gave me till 2009 to get it to toyota for recall or i lose the recall warranty.

Yeah but what was weird was I never got a letter before except for something about another recall on the front end suspension or something then I got that letter after the truck was out of warranty.

My truck was just undercoated and they said that there had been some issues with this, honestly legal action will be your best bet at this point...even letting toyota know that you have started the legal process might get something done.

Again, what's he going to sue for? Not getting warranty coverage on something that's not under warranty?

I don't understand why they sent the letter so late. If the letter was sent earlier then he might still be under warranty.

It sucks that you just got the letter but that's how warranties work. It's not a lifetime warranty. Did you buy the truck within the last couple years? If so, the previous owner probably got a letter but didn't send it with the truck. Toyota sent follow-up letters to trucks that weren't inspected yearly.
