Here is the problem I see with this idea. When your flying down the road at say 65, the t case builds pressure inside and the oil pump is spinning so that it can lubricate the internals. Unless that rubber boot is super strong the pressure will push it out allowing your oil to escape. Yes, the case has a breather on it to releive some if this pressure build up but it's not enough to stop the oil from pushing by that rubber boot. thats why you see these case start to "sweat" after some time from the seals and the mating surfaces. You would have to have some sort of seal that is as strong as the seals of your output shaft seals are for this idea to work properly.

In my opinion the amount of work to make this work is far greater than just getting an FJ case and putting it in your truck. The shift mechanism is far better internally with the FJ case than that of the Tacoma case and you'd still have to cut a whole in your floor to get what ever system you choose to shift the Tacoma case. Plus you get the advantage of having a twin stick case which will aid ini preserving your front CV's when bound up in the rocks and you will still have the shift on the fly option as well.

    Just my two cents. ;)

    Hey Matt,

You can do a 4wd conversion on your truck for about $6,500 if you have someone do it for you or less if you do the work yourself. I did one on a 4th gen 4runner using an FJ t case. Thats the best way to do it. Your truck will not only be sellable, ( probably not a word but what the heck ), since your usiing all toyota parts there will be no modifications needed to be done except for the sticks coming up through your floor. I like the idea.

yeah more than likely true, though it is a matter of view. When I feel strongly about something then I put stuff out the way that I do to get a point across. Either way, when I was nice about or douche-ish about it nobody gave a rats ass.
