hey guys, has anybody had any issues with brake pedal vibration when hard braking only? I don't know if it's coming from my OME lift or when i switched to my duratracs. It's not anything getting worn out, i only have about 2k miles on my truck. i've had my ome lift for about 5 or 6 months now and haven't really noticed any vibration until i had to hard brake today. i also have the DSM uca's any input?

warped rotor? if so, its very common. mine does it a little bit from time to time. it may gradually go away on its own. or you may have to have them machined down.

i don't think so. the brake pedal actually vibrates pretty badly. it was kinda wet this morning when it happened tried again this afternoon when it dryed up and samething. it feels like something is loose in there. it only does that when i get on the brakes pretty hard.

I get a vibration when I brake too, Everything seems to be mechanically sound so I think in my case its just from my duratrac tires.

very easy to warp. all it really takes it getting on the brakes hard one good time. try driving it easy and braking easy for a little bit and see it if fades away. warp is caused by the heat build up. my buddy who drives like a bat out of hell drove my truck the other day, now i have the same issue u do. but it has faded over the past week.

Overheating and improper lug nut torque can cause premature rotor warpage.

warped rotors will not fix them selfs.if there warped....there warped until they get turned down

correct....torque is very important, and it wont take long(2000miles)to develop vibs on your peddle

it's seems to happen after i put on my duratracs on. I haven't really had that problem with my bfg's or maybe i just didn't brake hard enough with the bfg's

hard to believe it's the rotors, since truck only has about 2k miles on them? what caused rotors to warp?

Rotors can warp at any mileage. A common way for rotors to warp is taking a hot rotor and cooling it too quickly, such as riding your brakes right before a puddle. Think about taking a hot pan and throwing it into the dish water. The pan will warp and won't sit flat on the stove afterwards. Having faulty rotors won't help either.

Take it to any brake shop to have the rotors, pads and calipers checked. A good shop will provide a free brake inspection and will be able to tell you exactly what's going on.

edit: judging from your signature pic, you have a lot of weight up front too. The force your brakes need to exert to stop that weight/momentum will cause them to heat up quicker than normal while braking too. Couple that with the abundant rain we had a couple weeks ago and you have yourself a likely suspect (of warped rotors).

thanks for the advise will take it to a brake shop and have them check it out. if it's the rotor, it should be covered under warranty?

No, it's a wearable/consumable part. Only if the rotor material is found to be faulty and Toyota begins seeing a trend in warping rotors at low mileage could you hope for a TSB and compensation.

Try this to see if it fixes the pedal pulsation. It's a trick I learned when my friend and I use to, shall I say "hustle" cars...

Take a garden hose with no attachments on the end and run water straight on to the front brake calipers for a good five minutes. Then shut the water off and go for a drive.

It should temporarily fix the pulsation but if it returns within a couple hours, your rotors are warped...:D

It was wet when you hard braked and vibration happened? Do you have ABS?

If it happened after you got your Duratracs, then it probably means the shop who installed them over-torqued the shit out of your lug nuts when re-installing the wheels. Combined with a couple of hard stops, that is a recipe for warpage.

i will check my lug nuts tomorrow and see how tight they are on there. Discount tires put those on there for me. i've been going to them for a while and never had an issue with their work but i'll check them out tomorrow. thanks
