What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Yeah I can see how that could happen, I hate that allen key plug. But the super shallow hex nut on the rear diff isn't much better.

 

I kinda like the hex on the rear, but maybe that is just because it is better than the front.

 

I used the mounting bracket that came with it, and then I went to Ace Harware and bought two little metal brackets with 4 holes (don't remember what they were called) and then bolted those to either side of the bracket and then placed the CB in between them and used the finger screws that came with it and connected it to the CB. It's kinda like an Erector set haha.

And I ran the wires under the carpet on the passenger side. That was really the only place I could think of that wouldn't take up a lot of space, not to mention, this site really didn't offer any feasible placements for a full-size CB so I found on myself.

 

Just ordered a pair of hella 75FF

 

Things that worked
Painted emblem and grill
Blinker relocation mod
Replaced headlight assembly’s
Replaced broken passenger mirror
Mounted fire extinguisher behind driver seat
Secured sub box with strap

Things that almost worked
Cut through ¾ of the sway bar. Cutting wheel just not quite long enough

Things I screwed up
Messed up paint on spare tire rim. Will need to sand and repaint.
Snapped bolt on abs sensor. Then snapped bolt extractor inside broken bolt.

 

Agreed its not the best location. But I have an access cab and the jump seat behind driver side isn't availabe due to the sub and I didn't want to put it the way of my only availabe 3rd passenger spot. I had bad images of it being accidently set off going down the highway.

The bolt is going to be a bitch. I don't know how to weld so its up in the air on how to get it out. Fortunately its flush and the abs sensor fits pretty snug.

 

Today I mounted my high lift jack onto my bed rail!

 

Oh, and i also mounted a Jerry Gas Can to my truck box. I made it so that I could remove it when not in use.

 

We only have 12 months and 21 days to do mods to our trucks. (and no i dont believe the world is going to end in 2012.)

Changed trans fluid/filter, re-sealed pan with permatex "right stuff", and added trans tune

Ran "open headers" all day holy crap it sounded amazing

then installed this sealed with Copper RTV (high temp sensor safe) :


and in 1 hour I'm goin' wheeling with da guys!!!

 

Knew this would soon follow. I want to but at the moment my wife doesn't know where the camera is and I don't have one of those fancy phones that I can upload pictures from. Pictures'll come soon.

finshed putting my secondary shock hoop in. Will put everything back together and the correct shocks on once recieve new tierods.

 

sweet, what kind of secondaries are you going with?

 

I rotated my tires. Now trying to figure out why my check engine light is on. Got the cpu read and the guy said it was some 02 something running lean. Ran tank empty and filled it up with a different gas station and add fuel treatment. Still doing it. Idle's rough but once you get going its fine its just kinda sluggish. Any Help Guys?

 

For the time being I am probably just going to use the 2.0 RR fox's I have on the back of my truck. Plan on some beter fox's once they are avaliable.
