How the heck do i get this bed bolt out....or in...or anything!

Well, since I am sure this bolt is toast (I'm just gonna order 4 new ones to replace all 4), I think I'm gonna cut off the bottom of the bolt and then get the rest of it out.

 

I bet the nut is spinning under the bed.

 

No, I think they're captive and it's jamming, not spinning.

 

Yep, I would plan on it.
You're in a "salt state" and the ends of all those bolts have been exposed to corrosives for about 6 years, now.

If you can screw it back down, and then cut off the bad
part from the bottom, that will work... but I would try tto
screw it back in with a pipe wrench and some light oil
on the threads (forget the PB Blaster, unless it's rusted)
If you get it to screw back down, work it in and out
until you get it free

Well, got the bolt out. Friend has air tools, so we took his cutoff wheel and cut a hex shape on the head of the bolt. Put a socket and breaker bar on it and it came out.
took a tap and die and cleaned up the threads of the bolt and the nut (which is welded to the frame!) and put a fuck ton of antiseize on it. Put it back in and it went in smooth as silk. Gonna order 4 replacement bolts and washers and clean up the rest of them when I replace them too.

 

Victory !

 

Yeah, and after getting it out, I have absolutely no idea why it didn't want to come out. Threads looked clean.

 

This is why I prefer getting all my chassis and suspension mods out of the way within the first two years. Freeing up rusted parts after six years takes all the fun out of modding.

Yayy, congratulations haha. I was going to chime in within a couple suggestions but you go it. I was gonna say though if your not that good at cutting straight edges with a deemed or die grinder and have access to a welde, we like to weld a nut on top of the torch bolts to get more torque on it. Might be easier or you in the future, might not haha

 

I read it, and if he got it out with a breaker bar, I still say
a pipe wrench would have gotten it out (a lot easier too)

 

Oh and just a word of advice. I would suggest not trying to heat up the nut. The bed part that connects to that part of the frame seemed to start bubbling so we immediately stopped applying heat.

 

That would drive me bananas.
