So Ive been reading around here all night because I want to put an exhaust on my Taco here in the next week or two. I have narrowed it down to either the TRD catback or a Magnaflow and I still cant decide what to go with!!

They both seem to have positive reviews with the Magnaflow having maybe a little better sound. And people saying the TRD is complete stainless so you dont ever have to worry about rust. I live in So Cal so idk if rust is a big factor for me but I really want to get a clean sound. I know there will not be much of a performance increase in HP unless I add some headers and a CAI which I can do later.

What I really want to know, is it better to buy just a Magnaflow muffler and have that welded to my stock pipes, and then just buy a tip?? Or should I go with the complete Magnaflow catback which comes with everything?

And how does the complete Magnaflow catback compare with the TRD catback??

If I go with Magnaflow will my factory warranty be voided? Will the TRD give me the clean and great sound I am looking for??

Please guys I need some help lol. They both seem good I just want to make sure I pick the right one and don't regret my decision.

I appreciate all the help and input!!

The muffler welded to stock pipes or the whole catback system?

Regardless of what you do, they legally can't just flat out void your warranty. Read up on the Magnunson warranty act. or whatever the hell it's called.

As far as Magnaflow vs. TRD, depends on what kind of noise you want. TRD sounds decent. I have it. Not very loud though. I do like mine but having it to do over I'd get something a little more louder.

Personally I don't know how much of a difference you'll hear between the TRD vs the Magnaflow. But I'd say just go with the Magnaflow. It shouldn't void your warranty but you may want to wait for a second opinion.

Yea I've heard that the sound has a bit more power than the TRD. So is it better to just get a muffler or to get the whole catback system?? I kinda started looking online they were around $520 I believe for the 16625.

I have the magnaflow and I low it. I get a nice deep throaty growl out of it (nothing like a good V8 though) but I am supercharged so my exhaust will sound differantly than yours because i am moving a ton more exhaust gas.

Extreme you have the magnaflow catback or just the muffler? I eventually want to get a SC but for me meantime just want some good, clean sound.

Unless the TRD one has been changed in recent years, it is aluminzed stainless.

I have the cat back system and I like the sound of it.

Once I can find a tuner (there currently are none for the 09+ tacoma's) I will have shorty headers and Y pipe as well as the CB system.

Ok yea I think the CB is the way I want to go!! Ive been looking online and I havn't been able to find it cheaper than $520 anywhere. Is that normal or should I keep looking?

Also I'm going to be doing my suspension here soon too. Does it matter if I do my exhaust first or suspension first?

Im thinking fox c/o's and maybe spindles with an AAL

No, it dosent matter, I did my exhaust first. I have fox C/O's and I love them. They ride a bit harsh on the street but once offroad they shine.

The TRD sounds good as well, the Magnaflow is a little louder, a bit more drone at freeway speeds. I dont even notice it over my tires, supercharger, radio honestly.

Yea I've heard people say the Magnaflow is a bit too loud in the cab, and others say its no issue at all. Honestly, I could care less if I hear it in the cab I always have my system bumping.

No one responded but does anyone know if the magnaflow catback can be found for cheaper than $520??

Just look around, also look for discount codes for places like autoanything.com or 4 wheel parts, etc. Your going to pay around $500 unless you go the route Hamster suggested.

Ok decisions, decisions..if I end up getting a TRD CAI will that perform better with the TRD catback or the same with either exhaust. It shouldn't matter right?

Careful getting the new style TRD CAI. They are known to throw check engine lights. Save a little cash and go with AFE, they are identical to the original (I think even made by AFE) TRD intake. I have one, works great.

There will be no performance increase by matching companies on intake and exhaust. All at CAI will do in reality is make your engine a little louder. The claims of 15+ hp are BS for the most part. You might see a little bit and it will sound cooler and look better.
