while undercover is pricey it is a top of the line product and i was ok with the price so long as it sis what it said it would for me and it so far has exceeded my expectations in every area. you can't go wrong with an undercover if you want a hard cover.

After a year & 1/2 my cover is water tite and no problems. One strange thing I had cutters bug spray on my arms this summer. Reading a john deere manual leaning with my forearms on the back top it left white stains. I tried water, bug and tar remover, goo be gone, all kinds of cleaners. still have the white stains. Strange but I got over it. Also when you look In the side mirrors the cover will show just how crooked the bed is and how bad theese truck were made. The cover gets a 9 out of 10, the truck 5.

Interesting, last winter my locks were frozen...the lock covers were left up and open...anyways, I used lock de icer to free them up and I now have a white stains were a few drops landed on the cover. Other than that and the light fell apart, it's been perfect.

Try using back to black. It works for wax stains on textured materials.

I bought a couple of black "s-biner's" from a local hardware store to solve the awkward spiral ring issue. They clip right on/off like a mini carabiner. Look good, and they seem to stay out of the way in terms of scratching the cab.

You might be able to use plastic dip on it as well. It would be a cheap way to fix it and keep the same texture.

I just installed one yesterday and must agree the placement of the front bracket space is too far forward. I would recommend 7 - 3/4" from the front of the bulkhead.

I just couldn't get the front of the cover to seat over the hinge/tabs, and still allow the rear to settle over the tailgate, the rear wouldn't come forward enough to allow it to seat.

Once I moved them that 1/4" further aft, everything came around and fit well.

Also the locks are a bit mystic. One usually expects the key to move the lever to/from the striker plate...not so. The key just turns a half turn, then stops. It doesn't move the lever, even with the cover still open.
Turns out the key merely locks/unlocks the keyway itself, you turn the whole body of the lock a quarter turn, one way or the other, to move the lever under the striker plate.

Was a puzzlement, grasshopper. but seems to be an excellent product. I'm a little concerned over the caveats from other users and Warranty.

Apparently it is susceptible to discoloration if it comes into contact with mosquito repellant and other products not approved as "safe for plastics".

I'm sure it's not a coincidence that they also sell "Tonneau Sauce" cleaner and protectorant. Wonder what it really is?

    Whit

PS, just checked with Undercover. They say "303 aerospace protectant" is an acceptable substitute.

I got mine a while back and i love it, works great for everything i need it for and more.

I went to the dealer looking for one and he says "ya, i got 2, one used and one new"

i got the used one for 350, I went over it and cant find any trace of it being used, except for the rings on the mounts. The original owner bought it, kept it for a month, then decided he wanted a camper top. So the dealer was selling it for him.

all in all,i have been happy with it, especially how easy it is to take off if needed

I wouldn't call the undercover exactly bulletproof. Check out the attached pics of cracks by the hinges. To be fair this is after five years of driving 10 miles/day on rough logging roads. Still.... Out of warranty and Undercover has offered to sell me a new SE at half price. The SE is supposed to have better hinges. I took them up on it but may just end up selling it NIB and replacing it with a toolbox.

    Im getting there......
hey man i solved the ring scratching truck problem by using two zinc coat key rings instead of the shoty rings provided that are not only sharp and weak but also raw steel and thus rust! Try it out no more scratching.......also for added protection try some clear 3m protective skin

My cover came with two small discs for paint protection but actually the rings dont contact the truck at all.

This is a great cover for the money which is still alot of money!
I had a snap cover on my last truck while convenient it was a pain in the winter and no security.

Can you post some pics of the small discs for paint protection? I just got my cover about a month ago and don't have what you explained.

Sure I will take a pic tomorrow in the daytime for you. The two discs are in the mounting hardware bag on a piece of white backing marked "mylar paint protection" would be very easy to misplace them amongst the instructions.

My locks have been freezing up these past few days. Anyone have any ideas on how to prevent it? I sprayed some fluid film in the locks hoping to prevent it but it didn't work.
