4.56 or 4.10

right now i have 3.73 gears i was wonder what would be an all around better gear for my truck with 33" tires. 4.10 or 4.56 and why?

4.10 for daily driver, 4.56 for daily off roading.

 

i ran 88s with the 33s for a while before i got 35s and it wasnt too bad but i would stick with 56s

 

so the 56 would be a good all around gear for highway and city?

 

Are 3.73 gears your stock gears? Do you know if the TRD Sport is the same as yours?

I am also looking at regear when I go to 35's later this year. I am thinking of going to 4.10's. The reason is I have the extra power with the supercharger so I dont think I have the need to go all the way up to .56. What do you guys think?

 

yes 3.73 is the stock trd sport gear

 

only 1st gen

 

2nd gens have 8" and 8.4"

 

I know the sports have the 8.4" because the 8" is just a carry over from the 1st gens with the E-locker.

 

I have 4.10's stock on my V6 '01 manual running 33's. When I can afford it I am regearing to 4.56's. It you are thinking at all about running 35s in the future, 4.88's may also be an option especially if doing alot of offroading.
Reason for me, effectively turning the larger heavier tires needs a lower gear ratio. With the 4.10's, I need to hit 4-lo just to manage some basic steep terrain without bogging down.

 

yes we have the 8.4 " in the trd sports which is a carry over from the T-100

 

I voted 4:10's cause I was told that they would put my truck back at stock ratios with 33s...but idk shit about gears so

You can either go with power and/or gears. Because I have the extra power from the S/C I dont need to gear so high, so I think the tax returns are going to 4.10 gears and arb lockers front and rear.

 

Its not accurate at all. I put my tire size in and it says at 65 I am running 2500 rpms. Not even close, I am easily 3-500 rpms lower than that.
