First off, im new here. Just bought a 2012 tacoma and want to add a plate bumper after a lift. I've been reading around about the fitting of the arb on the 2012 tacoma's. Most say that the bumper won't fit the new front design and that they're waiting for arb to design a new one. However, I stumbled upon the 2012 Oakley surf Tacoma (http://pressroom.toyota.com/releases/2011+sema+show+oakley+surf+tacoma.htm). It has an arb. Any ideas? Does the bumper actually fit (without looking stupid) or does it take a lot of custom fabrication? Thanks for the help!

this^ and call them arb is usually very good about customer service related questions. also ask them about the rear bumper when you call lol.

seriously the rear bumper as well this will show them that there are others out there besides myself that would buy one and maybe they will get off their asses and finally release it to the public :)

They could have done any number of modifications to the grille/entire front to fit that bumper on, it'll be nearly impossible to tell from a couple of photos. I bet talking directly to ARB would be the best solution... that or finding a few people with a spare ARB, a 2012, and a bit of time to kill to get together and test fit it. My guess is there will be some weird looking gaps without any modification. But who knows?

I emailed them over a month ago, here was the response:

    Front Desk frontdesk@arbusa.com 11/22/11

The 2012 will require us to do a new bumper. It’s 3-5 months away.

That seems weak. 3-5 months? What! Do they need make the drill rig to mine the ore to make the steel?

lol-Keep in mind the tacoma is a truck made for the US market. The rest of the world gets the Hilux. We are a little low on the priority list right now and the 2012s haven't been out that long. I'm sure it takes time to engineer and build a bumper that is used all over the world (unlike all other shit out there which is why I use ARB). It'll be worth the wait I'm sure. Now on to something worth bitching about-ARB where the hell is my rear bumper?!

Why yes I am! If they had the truck in their shop and with all of the tools they have available. I do not think it would take more than what 80 hours to refine and fab up a new bumper? I could do it in 80 hours if I had all the right tools. And I have never made a bumper. With a CNC laser cutter they could bust out hoards of supply parts and a couple of burly out back dudes with some welders could make a whole shit load of these in no time. Thats the way I see it.

They also claim that their bumpers are 100% compliant with factory airbag systems , and presumably any alteration to the bumper design would entail making sure the new design is still compliant .

They would likely pre build a certain amount of bumpers for stock prior to announcing their availability , and they are in Australia and the bumpers , once built , most likely come to North America via ships .

3-4 months seems pretty reasonable to me seeing how most custom fab vendors on this site have a longer wait period than that .

This isint designing tooth pics here, a lot of things you buy take a good while to test and build. They test these things more than most if not all others out there. If you think 3-5 months is a long time, wait until Toyota completely redesigns the Tacoma and ARB has to start from scratch.

I just got off the phone with ARB. Front bumper for 2012 Tacoma is a priority and will be out sometime this year (his words exactly). The rear bumper for 2nd gen Tacoma is on the back burner for now and no word yet on when it will be available.

Weld steel, bolt to truck, hit roo doing 60, bam done sell it! This sounds like a better business plan than, oh some time in 2012. GIT-R-DONE.

There is a 2012 at Don McGill in Houston with a white ARB on it. Looks like it fits just fine to me.

Just got an update from ARB about the 2012 front bumper (See below). Seems like a long time, but at least they are communicating and doing something. I have written ARB, Aluminess and ALL-PRO, the 3 manufacturers of a front winch bumper that I want for my 2012. All have stated that they are trying to get a 2012 into the shop so that they can take measurements and get started. They all have emailed me back at least once or twice, so it seems like they want our business. ARB has actually emailed me back at least three times. Still an agonizing wait as the 2012's came out in late September, early October. Aluminess and ALL-PRO actually invited anyone to bring in their trucks for measurements, but I live 2,000 miles away...

Hi Jay, We do have to make another bar for the 2012. We are purchasing a new Tacoma next week and will get started on it. If all goes well we should have new bar in stock here by June.
