What is the biggest tire you can put on the stock 15" steel wheels that I have on my 99 2.7? I wanted to get something a little bigger than stock. Thanks for the help in advance

you might be able to stuff a 32X11.5X15 w/o any lift. I have seen it done w/ some trimming in the fender wells.

nothing, all stock expect got a OE replacement air filter K&N.
sir if you wanna go bigger than your 31, go with 32. but like tacox said, you will have to trim off some plastic from the wheel well.

Trying to save a few bucks for now until i can afford better rims....If you can go with the 32x11.5x15 on the stock rim (mine has 225/75/15) then would you also need a wheel spacer? If so how much spacer? Discount tire tells me that I need to get a different wheel to go that big because of safety concerns with the sidewall of the tire. I bought an OME 3" lift for the truck and think the 32s would look and function best (for my motor/stock gears as far as power/economy gos). Please post pics of your setups on first gen. Tacomas..... similar to what I'm looking into.

32X11.5X15 should be fine on stock rims...someone correct me if I am wrong.

If you need spacers, spidertrax would be best.

Which rim is it that Discount says not to use with 32x11.5-15s? Is it one of these?

I think that running 11.5'' wide tires on aa 7''wide rim is not good. I think you need 8'' wide rims to keep wear on the tires good for 11.5-12.5'' wide tires, even 10'' wide rims for 12.5'' tires. All stock toyota rims are 7'' wide..

32x11.5-15s on stock Tacoma 15x7 alloys will clear the upper control arm and the tires will look good and wear correctly too. I know this because that is what I ran on my 1st Tacoma.

I'm considering just getting a wider rim with a little more backspace. I just don't want to be buying a set of gender flares too. Maybe I'll look into a set of used TRD rims in 16". I think those are 8" wide or more? That will also give me just a bit more lift. Bring on some more pics. Thanks for your photo digiratus. What lift, tires, rims are you running?

Edit: I guess it wouldn't give more lift if I use a 16" wheel but still a 32" tire duh!

My current truck, the red one in my sig, is an '02 running 2.5" of lift. The tires are 255/75-17's (approx 32x10) on 8" wide Procomp 7098 rims.

The white '98 I posted a picture of had a spacer lift and replacement rear leaf springs. About 2.5" of lift from the spacer and leafs. The tires were 32x11.5 BFG KM1s mounted on these rims.

All 1st gen alloys are 7" wide, including the TRD 16"s
