OMG time to change diff fluids again.... two issues

Time to change them out again. Few Questions....

Last time I remember it being a PITA cause I had trouble getting the fluid into the differential and I couldn't find a pump to fit this bottle.



Next, last time I didn't replace sealing washers. Should I this time? Do the washers tend to stick to the the bolt to where they wont come off?

 

No local stores had it. Have any links or product codes to ensure i get the right one? I may need to order online.

 

Seems like i remember reading that the washers didn't need replacing. That said, they're cheap so do whatever helps you sleep at night.

Also, removing the spare tire will help tremendously when it comes to filling with oil. The pump is nice but isn't necessary.

Chris just removed the pump from the Jergen's lotion bottle on his nightstand, and then pulled the plastic tubing off of his penis pump.

 

I had to remove the spare tire to fill my diff. I also had a pump already so I didn't have to go crazy finding one. The cheap pump fits most bottles so like stated above, walmart, pepboys should have it.

 

yep...i just bought one at Walmart....its in the marine section.its a gear lube pump for outboard engines

 

I see this talk of the rear diff but wasn't the front the worst for ya'll? I remember for me it seemed like it was...

Never used a pump and don't recall having any issues with the front or rear. When I changed the transmission fluid, I used a funnel with a long hose that would make it up to the engine bay. That would work for any type of fluid although gear oil might take a while to make it through the hose...

 

Bought mine at local NAPA same time I bought the oil.

Washers don't need to be replaced.

I've been using this for years with good results. Have seen them at all the automotive places, Wal Mart, NAPA, etc.

Way easier and quicker than the bottle mounted pumps. Can be filled by removing the cap and filling from bottle, or can be used to suction the oil directly from the bottle. I find removing the cap and filling the cylinder much cleaner/quicker.

EDIT: I guess I should have bothered to read the post right above mine first! Same difference.

I used one of these and it worked perfectly. Only issue was needing to refill the gun for every quart, but minimal wastage, no need to worry about gravity or angle. Well worth it for $10.

Front wasn't that bad because it doesn't take as much fluid as the rear.
