That's what I figured. What ratio are you regearing to? What size tires does your Duramax have? Every full size truck that I've wheeled with (in the snow) had be to pulled out numerous times and usually left behind. I figured since you have 37's and bead locks you'd be fun to wheel with.

What the hell is up with this weather?! It's way too warm for this time of year, and we've only like 2 solid weeks of rain since November. :(

I think it'll just end up being a late winter. Last winter we didn't really get a huge dump of snow until the month of March.

Stupid weather forecasters. We were supposed to have a colder and wetter winter than average, according to the National Weather Services (your former employer  ).

Then again winter just started, but still.

We are down 4" of rain for this time of year, and no valley rain means no fresh mountain snow. :(

Heading to the mountains this weekend? I'm thinking of going..may take my daughter up to that inter tube place next to Chevron instead of snowboard. She's been in TN since the 22nd of December and I miss playing with her :)

I went this past weekend, Government Camp was getting a ton of snow while I was there, but they got some rain yesterday and temperatures are in the 40s so I don't know how much good snow will be left. :(

Hopefully enough though so that you guys can have some fun. :)

4.88's for the taco, waiting for one more paycheck to get an ARB and compressor for the front, although I might just run it off nitrogen so the lines don't freeze up. The dmax does ok for a disco truck, locker in the rear and 35" nitto trail grapplers claw through pretty well, but if that 8000 lb bastard gets buried it might sit there until spring time.

I still work for the weather service, and the forecasters are some strange folk. They sit in a candlelit room huddled around a crystal ball throwing little bones on the carpet to get the forecast. It should snow Thursday according to their latest computer models, but really it's just a guess into the future. I think that it will be a "late" winter with the first week of Feb being the coldest and the most snow depth in early March.

I don't think it'll do very well in the snow. We usually have 35"+ tires, front and rear lockers, and air down to 0-5psi. If it gets stuck it won't be very fun to pull out. If you're ever up to snow wheeling your Tacoma I'd be happy to head that direction and do some exploring. I'm currently on 35's but I'm looking for some 37's or 38's. Every tire I want to buy is back ordered so I have to wait for new ones to come in or wait until used ones come up.

Yeah man when I get it put together we'll go on a run. Last winter I had the chevy in some 18" sugar snow and it did ok, but it's not like the taco for sure and it sinks straight to the bottom of whatever it's on. It's a mall crawler and a tow rig, not something you want to beat on too hard anyway. What kind of tires are you looking at running? I used to run BFG Km1's and loved them, not the best in the snow but what is, lol. Then I got KM2's and they sucked goat balls. I blew the sidewalls out of 6 of them in one year, punctured another couple, and they were far worse in the snow than the Km1's. They are the reason I'm on military take off's with beadlocks. Random pic from a couple years back in the Sierra Nevada's-

I used to have Toyo MTs. I loved them in the snow but they're too heavy, especially with beadlocks. I tried the KM2s and sold them after about 5-7k miles. They're nice in the dry stuff but suck otherwise and are the worst tire I've had in the snow. I currently have the new MTRs in 35x12.5 which I love in the snow. I've been very pleased with them and want to bump up to a larger size in the same tire if possible. The only thing I don't like is the side walls aren't as strong as they advertise. I purchased 5 tires and tire rack shipped me one tire with a punctured side wall. A few months later I punctured a side wall on a rock. That tire had less than 1000 miles on it. Right now 2 of 4 tires have cuts in the side wall but not enough to puncture the sidewalls. I'm contemplating switching to Mickey Thompson MTZs but they're pricey in 37s.

    Here's mine;

It's hard to find a good tire anymore. Super swamper has the Trxus MT that is a pretty soft compound tire good for the snow, but if you're concerned about weight it's not for you. I came to the conclusion buying milsurp tires for $75 a piece was the way to go, they are disposable and tough as nails. Nice truck man. Are you running an ARB up front?

I need something that is somewhat streetable as well otherwise I'd get the Iroks. The mil surplus is a good way to go but they don't air down very well since they're designed for a 8000+lbs vehicles but they are tough tires. I also already have 17" Hutchinson bead locks and don't want to trade them for 16.5" wheels. I have an E-Locker rear and ARB in the front. So far I haven't had any issues with the front.

I haven't heard of many issues with the ARB in our trucks or the FJ's, other than water getting in the lines and freezing up. I already pack a Nitrogen tank around anyway, might as well put it to use for the locker and get dry air. That's my theory anyway.

I haven't had any issues with water getting in the lines. If anything you can always get a dryer on the output line and not have to worry about water. My compressor for the front locker sits under the hood so it doesn't see much moister. You can always pour some alcohol down the line if it freezes.

Have you had any issues with the 37's on you truck? My tire and wheel weight comes in at 115lbs. With the 37's I'm looking at 135lbs per side which I'm guessing is close to your weight.

The trail worthy beadlocks are really heavy, 50 lbs plus the tires weigh 85 lbs so rim and tire weighs 135 lbs. The only issue I've had is getting the tire centered on the beadlock, one of them wobbles 1/2" or so and produces some vibrations but it's not that big of a deal at speed. I had to adjust my bypass tubes a couple turns tighter to compensate for the weight, but it actually rides pretty good considering. I balanced them with airsoft bb's which seems to work above 35 mph or so but you can feel them around town.
