It really is a great pack even though it's big. I have a lot in there cause I have kids to pack for also even though they will have their own things to carry. I have a Kelty day pack in the truck with the essential get home stuff also but I might change that bag and give it to one of the kids. Can't wait to see your new LA bag since I'm now shopping for another pack.

    I gave you +1 a while back too :D

 not sure if I gave you +1 or not. this thread has gotten really long now!

I got to practice making a fire tonight. My wife got me a magnesium fire starter for Christmas. I couldn't get shit to light on fire until I tried it with one of my cotton balls dipped in Vaseline. I need more practice

Edit to add pics of my LAPG bag

I got me and the wife those exotac firestarters, they throw out some serious sparks. I would reccomend them over the magnesium blocks any day.

i know it's been mentioned before but does anyone have a bail out location? we all have bags but where are you going?

i don't have a particular place in mind, but i know it's going to be away from the any city and probably in the woods. i'll be living like the pilgrims, building a hut to live in and starting from scratch.

try this, take and empty pint sized paint can (available at lowe's or home depot), a roll of TP, and a bottle of rubbing alcohol.

take the cardroad tube out of the center of the TP and put the TP in the empty paint can. pour the rubbing alcohol into the can with the TP. the TP acts as a wick and it will burn for hours. once you don't need it anymore, simply put the lid on the can and it extinguishes the flame and seals the can to be stored where ever you please. ;)

Edit: you can really use any size can you want, pint size is small and compact. :)
