face to face is always better than an email. so i would go tell the guy ahead of time what happened, without knowing whether the recall worked. you will look alot worse if the recall doesn't work. if you tell him what happened ahead of time, chances are you can probably be joking about it by the end of the conversation, or at least he can hear you apologize and explain you were having a crappy day or whatever and you really didn't mean what you wrote.

fyi, i have had this done to me, and i just did something like this to one of my customers. i didn't say anything bad about the customer per se, but i did express some disappointment that wasn't meant for him to read. it was a humbling phone call i had to make. but hey, shit happens and you deal with it as best you can and move on.

good luck and let us know what happens.

Downside is he'll wonder what I'm talking about and purposely ck his email before allowing the recall to work.

Walk in and say did you get my e-mail? Looking kind of depressed. If he says no checks it and it goes away, your good! Smile and say I'll resend it, must have been something wrong!

OP if you dont mind me asking, what rank are you? I know our airmen would get their ass ripped into. NCOs probably not as much. Either way your best bet would be tell him you sent him a personal email by accident. Maybe he'll be kind enough to not read it if it did go through.

It's the chairforce. Worst thing that could happen is forced papercuts and stapler bites.
