I saw a couple forums about this but I think mine is a little unique. My ABS warning light and Brake warning light have come on after I had to jump my '07. Any ideas on what would cause this. I'm assuming it's something electrical but not sure how/what to check. Any thoughts?

I hope you didn't jump it backwards.....
Need to have the codes scanned before anyone can help you...

If you did then you very well could have. Unfortunately i did a thread on this when this question was asked.

I'm not going to scare you "YET" but the results that i had to repair were very expensive.

You really need to get it scanned and then once you know the results you need a diag procedure to get to the root of the problem.
It could be as simple as a popped fuse.

Does your speedo still work ??

The speedo and everything else on the dash works perfectly fine. My brakes are working normally also.

That's a good start...... not out of the woods yet.

Have your fuses checked and scan the whole vehicle for codes.

A health check by a dealer TIS Techstream machine is perfect for this situation.
    Good luck..

My right rear wheel sensor went bad according to the vehicle code. Is this something that can be changed relatively easily? I know the part runs close to $200 and wouldn't mind saving on the labor if it's possible for someone with very basic car knowledge to change.

Really......Jump start and now a bad WSS.
    Interesting.....

    Yes you can change it.
It's only one bolt that holds it in. As long as it's not frozen in the housing it will be a 15 min job.
I will tell you we have had issues with some of the wiring and connectors corroding. So it looks like just a sensor and you pull it apart and the green fuzz stares at ya or you get high resistance in the harness. Cleaning it never seems to work for long so we just end up changing both FYI...

The only thing that bothers me is this happened just after you jumped it.
    It could be a coincidence.....
I would hope he cleared the code for you to see if it popped right back on.
If it's out now then run it for a bit. If it comes back on then you know what you need to do.

    FWTW.

Had a 06 taco come in with abs and brake light on.
Customer had tried to jump the truck backwards.
Had Left rear wheel speed sensor circuit code.
Went through diagnostics and the final diag is a bad ABS Actuator.

    Same situation as dlee120.
I hope he comes back with an update.

EVERYONE really needs to pay attention while trying to jump a vehicle.
All it takes is one slip and it's going to cost you thousands of dollars.

Double check and triple check before you make that final connection.
Newer vehicles have no margin for error for voltage spikes or rev polarity..

I really hate seeing stuff like this..... :(

I haven't taken any steps towards correcting my issue other than getting the right rear wheel speed sensor code diagnosed. The ABS no longer works (which doesn't bother me terribly since I felt the ABS was a little too sensitive), which I expected since the panel light came on. As you said Tacoma Mike, the situation you came across sounds just like mine. If it looks like a duck and talks like a duck...it's gotta be a bad ABS actuator. I'm not sure if I'll get this repaired. It sounds as if it will be a costly one.

I've certainly learned my lesson on taking care to jump a vehicle correctly, no matter how many times I've done it previously.

    Thank you again Tacoma Mike!

Hey found this thread in searching around...
Anyone have any input or conclusion?
    I have the exact situation/problem as dlee120 with a 2007 access cab!
But with rear left wheel sensor code.

When you replace your sensor check for oil on it. You may have a seal leak which will throw it out again. Also worn bearings will throw the sensors/ abs/ brake/ speedo/ odometer out of whack.

Have checked all fuses .. and had codes read today after reading through some threads here. I don't have the codes here but they were for a volt spike(which the tech cleared) and a open connection to the left rear speed sensor.
So he figured it was possibly in the wiring harness connection since he could mess with connection a bit and get the light off...but the code kept showing up after a short time..I don't know exactly how long. Maybe only a few seconds?
aaaand couldn't test the sensor itself until he was sure the connection was good.
    (read replace harness)

Said he thought the abs actuator would be a long shot and it was possibly just a coincidence that it came on at the same time as jump...but that seems like a stretch of a coincidence after reading some similar situations here?

From the rear, either the brakes (wheel cylinder leaking) or from the axle (bad seal).
