Hrm, wow. I get around 15mpg mixed with a basically stock 3.4/manual truck except for a TRD S/C. I must be doing something wrong? It is well maintained!

Not really! Although until last weekend (when I installed a URD 7th Injector kit) it did have to have some reasonably high RPMs to keep the low-rpm ping-under-load issue from happening. Now I can lug it around at 2K RPM! I'm hoping that MPG improves.

Winter blend gas accounts for a 10%-15% drop in my mileage every year, across three separate vehicles (Tacoma, Cobra, and 330xi). I don't swap tires or fuel grades on any of them, so the change is 100% fuel-related. (I hope that winter blend gas reduces emissions by at least 10%-15%, since I burn that much more gas just to get where I'm going...)

I have a 4x4 DC 3.4 auto with 265/75/16s and 5100s up front. All else is stock and i get 15 mpgs all day long, easy driving/hard driving it doesnt matter. I have been calculating how a commuter car will pay for itself just by not driving my truck every day. Im gonna keep the truck but i need to get something a little wallet friendly.

I average 17 with the mods listed in my sig. I never heavy foot it. Been pretty disappointed with the fuel efficiency of these trucks. I last had a 03 V8 Tundra and that thing regularly did 18, and it was a mid-travel 4X4 TRD Access Cab. Whatever, this truck goes a lot more places.

Winter blend is such bullshit. Pisses me off. Reduce pollution by reducing the amount of miles someone can go on a tank of gas. Havent done the math, but where i live the police are using ethanol-free petrol year round.

Bout 16 with the v6 trd 2000 model. Wild spirit a/t's (31's) 3"lift. I could probly get a lot better though since I drive the 5 speed with a lead foot. I also use super unleaded with ethanol. Regular is probably better. But you've gotta remember the 1st gens were built before the gas mileage/environment bullshit really took off

If you guys are super unhappy about your MPGs, I found that changing the fuel filter and cleaning the throttle body increased my MPGs by a lot. But that's because both of those were absolutely disgusting (the fuel filter was full of what looked like mud, and I originally thought the TB plate was black b/c it was so dirty!). I went from 15mpg to 19 overnight.

    just my $0.02.

it's a black cylinder just under the driverside door. It's kind of annoying to change out, but it's relatively cheap and I was able to do it in under 20 minutes. You have to be careful not to break the fuel line though, because that would be a gigantic PITA.

I had to apply WAY more pressure than I thought was reasonable (or safe, lol) to pull the fuel lines out of it to remove it.
