    I have trouble believing that... I'm not saying your wrong I'd just like to know more. My 2.5 JATO is loads more powerful than my buddy's nitro sport with the .15 :notsure:

    If you don't sell it in the next couple weeks I'd be very interested. Can't afford it right now. But my SC10's brushed motor took a shit and I'm looking to replace it after I buy books for school..

    You know what is funny, I actually have a Dx6i radio. Figured I would just get that from the start so I wouldn't be paying more in the end. I still notice it with the DX6i. I don't have anything else to compare it to, so maybe it is worse with the stock radio?

    I will say that I (not very experienced :D ) think it flies great besides this one quirk. I was somewhat convinced that this higher end radio I have was doing it because I assumed it was not setup correctly. Seems like there are a lot of options I could probably adjust but have no idea what they do.

    The CP isnt so great? When you say CP are you referring to what looks like an older one or just short for the CP 2 pro whatever its called. I think the pro one has the inverted flight capabilities? Both of them looked nice, I am curious what your and your buddy suggest for a medium sized heli. Would be nice to get something with weight to it. Even with slight wind outside that little blade 120 has a real hard time flying into it.

    This is still confusing to me. Traxxas says the 2.5 engine is faster than the .15 :confused:
    http://traxxas.com/products/parts/engines/trx25

    cid = cubic inch displacement
    cc = cubic centimeters

    .12cid = 2.0cc
    .15cid = 2.5cc
    .18cid = 3.0cc
    .21cid = 3.5cc

    Stupid marketing BS. The 2.5 has a different cooling head on it. And the casting on the block says TRX 2.5. I believe that it makes more power than the .15 But I'm sure it's not significant. The big thing is that the 2.5 is normally mated to a 2 speed transmission unlike the .15

    The old rustler that I have only has a single speed tranny in it. Would I have to upgrade it (if that's even possible) to a 2 speed tranny? Or will the 2.5 work with the single speed tranny?

    Well, maybe you saved me some money, as I was convinced a better radio would cure my little quirk. The CP is an older version, three/four years ago, the yellow one in this pic, shown with the SR and MCX for size comparision. As far as suggesting a model, I know he likes the T-Rex from Align, so, maybe a 250 or 400 T-Rex. Check this 600 sized clone he got in just yesterday, gonna be huge. That rotor head prolly weighs over a pound.

    That 600 thing is huge. Do they make scale bodies for it? I think if i got something that large id have to get a realistic looking body to put on it. Love the $100 bill for scale haha. That is all you must have lying around to afford that thing!

    As for the controller, it is entirely possible that my setup might require some fine tuning other than just bind and fly to get rid of that. This dx6i is way over my head.

    Just got back from tooling around with the little p51 micro. Got a few new batteries for it, some 160mha from Thunder Power. Lasted easily twice as long and help the power so much better than all of the E-flight batteries i have. I thought they would be a little crappier as the name sounded a little cheesy. Boy was i wrong.

    I know that a lot of people modify the Jato's to be single speed to make them ROAR legal, so I'm sure it's not too difficult. I wouldn't be surprised the the TRX2.5 went right in place of what you've got. There's a good chance that the motor mounting points wouldn't line up, though.

    I guess a Tacoma forum is the wrong place to be asking those kind of questions.. :roll eyes:

    Also, I kind of feel like my jato is overpowered. And I sort of think that the 2 speed has a lot to do with that. I'd like to see a rustler with the .15 modified with a 2 speed. BUT, I think you'd be really happy with a single speed rustler running the 2.5

    Cool, thanks! I always had problems with the 2 speed transmission on my Revo so I was hoping that the single would work fine. Speaking of the revo, that's something else on the shelf that needs to be torn down, cleaned and rebuilt.

    For the 2.5 I believe all I need to buy is the upgrade kit so that it mounts correctly. I suppose this is the direction I'm going in although I really would like to get this .15 running again someday. So after all is said and done I will have a 1997 model Nitro Rustler with a TRX2.5 and single speed transmission. Sounds fun! :D

    there was some breakage...

    the aftermath

    "I only broke two pieces and bent two pieces during the making of that video. I broke the R1 toe block (which bent the hinge pin), broke the rear part of the cage, tore the plastic mount on one of the light bar braces and bent the front bumper brace.

    The funny thing is that I actually broke the R1 toe plate the after I shot all the big jump video and went over to the area with the 2 doubles (where I chased the kid on the bike) and on the third pass I hit the first double wrong and the car landed hard on it's side in a ditch to the right of the jump and broke. You can see that the head of the screw broke off which took a lot of force to break. I'm assuming that the head of the screw breaking off was the cause of the failure of the toe block since the toe block could then move as well as the hinge pin. It's impressive that the tow block stood up to that kind of force before it failed.
    I don't know if the parts that broke were fatigued after the beat down it just got on the big jumps but either way, I thought this rig held up amazingly well for the abuse I was giving it.

    If your going to bash and beat the hell out of your EXO then I would suggest upgrading the front and rear toe blocks to the option parts "Machined Aluminum Front/Rear Toe Block (Hard Anodized)". If you don't plan on beating it up to bad then I would run it stock and have an absolute blast with it right out of the box.

    Since the rear section of the cage doesn't have any type of impact absorbing bumper I'm not surprised I broke the cage like that. The wing is supposed to help absorb some of a rear impact but after an early crash broke the right side of the cage with the wing attached I took it off because it would not stay in place and didn't want it to cause more harm then good."[IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
