Does everyone who gets a ambulance ride get first priority at the ER, or do some get the daunted waiting room.

Everyone who requests a ride can get a ride , just because you are on the ambulance doesnt mean you are getting priority . If you call an ambulance and request their services they are obligated to help you unless you deny the care .

Here everyone who hits the hospital hits triage. Doesn't matter if your a walk in STEMI or you decided to utilize ALS for your sore toe which has been ongoing for 3 months but just last night at 2am you decided this has gone on long enough and dialed 911.

Ok, but do you guys get cases where whomever is on your ambulance gets put in the waiting room with everyone else who just walked in?

Not unless they want to. We can't give up care unless they no longer request us or an equivalent level of care or higher takes over from us IE - Another EMS crew or nurses.

Oh, so you guys have to stay with the patient that requested the call -- even in the ER -- until they can get seen by a nurse/doctor. Atleast thats what im gathering?

I think you've been a little twisted by TV. If they're in the ER the docs and nurses are there and it's serious enough to get to the front of the line. EMS wait in the back hall with their patients until they either go to a specialty ward or into the acute care ward which is generally right next to the ambulance bay or not far from it.
The waiting room is reserved for walk in pts. We have had on occasion pts say they'll wait in the waiting room so they don't tie us up any more because they know their condition is super serious to require constant care via EMS but still enough that they need to be seen by a doctor.

80% of the people I transport go straight to the waiting room and then 50% of the family's who follow in the personal cars get mad they have to sit in the waiting room.

Because of this ideas like this!!

So the EMT's wait in a "seperate" waiting room with their pt's kind of?

I have stayed with a pt up to 2 hours waiting for a room for a pt, because the ER is sooo full of people that don't need to be there

Negative. I've never worked with a litter before.

Hell no. I drop people off in triage all the time. I wish I could drop more off in triage. Most of our frequent fliers go striaght to triage. I love it when you take someone to the hosptial and drop them off in triage, then they yell at you telling you that they could have driven themselves if they knew they would be out front. And my response, yes you could have driven yourself. Especailly since you walked past your car.

So technically if you get called out to something minor and still have to stay with them, they could tie you guys up over someone that called in needing help? Does the whole ambulance crew stay with them or just a emt?

That's bullshit. That hospital should have been on divert. This is where I hate COBRA laws. You should be able to leave the hospital for another one if you are waiting that long.
