Last night cruising down the freeway RPMs jumped as if tranny slipped into neutral, no power, no speed, like the transmission died. Tried shifting out of Drive into 2nd and gears didn't grabb until I coasted below 50mph. I limped it through some back roads for a few miles before 2nd also disengaged. Sat on the side of the road thinking my transmission randomly (without warning) died. Turned off my truck, called AAA. Few minutes later tried to re-start my truck and the Starter just spun as if it wasn't even engaging the flywheel.

Gonna tear into it in a few days, but does this sound like a dead transmission?? Torque Converter or Flywheel?

The only thing that made me think twice was the fact my truck wouldn't start afterwards.

Any helps appreciated guys, I love my truck to pieces and this is the first problem I've ever had with it.

That's pretty odd. Have you had anything worked on recently?

I can't comment on the truck not starting, but dude, you better pray its not your trans. Some of what you mentioned is what mine was doing before it ,without much warning grenaded, & I mean it fuckin' exploded inside, got towed home & 2 days later I dropped the pan only to find about a pound of metal shavings/ broken gear teeth on the bottom....

Uhhh, try about $2k & up to $3k (for an absolute rebuilt including all the servos)

& yeah my truck has been out of commission since Halloween...

good luck to you & hoping yours isn't like mine....:(

the truck has had no mods or heavy maintenance ever.. 100% stock with regular maintenance and upkeep. The fact this did happen is quite a shock and mystery to me.

I would check the fluids to make sure they're normal and not full of burnt crap or discolored. Is it leaking from anywhere?

Sounds like maybe your timing belt snapped?? This happened to my brothers 94 Toyota. Very similar symptoms. This would not be a big deal.

Called a buddy who runs a shop, he suggested my Flex Plate broke that presses on the flywheel and keeps it in position.. which is why my truck wouldnt start as the starter couldnt engage the flywheel properly.

Flex Plates are only $120 so I'm praying

881 Front coils, Bilstien 5100's all the way front set to "0" Icon Dynamic's mini leafs in rear, stock tires.
I was thinking flex plate also, leading to torque converter disconnect!
