Especially since you're in VA. They're strict on lighting. They don't even allow undercar lights of any kind.

I may consider getting a smaller version of this light (assuming they make one) and using one or two as reverse lights.

There was some talk of a GB on this. Is this going to happen? I would rather put one of these suckers in than the whole Satoshi/lights behind grille.

Last I heard is they were still putting the numbers together and working out the details.

I am fairly new to these lights and the concept. I've seen the video on YouTube, I work law enforcement and if they were cheaper and about 7 other tacoma would adapt. Let me know what you,re able to find out, please. mels05toy@gmail.com

I love this idea and it is so clean in terms of not having a bunch of lights just bolted somewhere on the outside of your truck but damn.....I really am apprehensive about hacking up that pricey skewp insert. You can't go backwards if you are not happy with it!

I'm coming late into this thread but this is an outstanding video....to the OP, make sure you post this on RI FB page. They love this kind of stuff. Plus it helps potential buyers out with what they're getting.

Good Luck! You'll be surprise how much light comes off that tiny light.

Actually... Since you're not modifying any of the painted surfaces, it's just the plastic backing plate and protector screen. Looks like I could "undo" my mod for around $25 in parts and 3 rivets. And yes, it's nerve racking to take a hacksaw to a truck I've owned less that a year.

I think the hardest part of the project was figuring out which switch I wanted to use.

Richard, I was wondering if you are having issues with too much rain water getting by and spraying the engine compartment. It looks like there is plenty of gap that is just covered with the bent back screen for water to flow. I may have to fab a crystallite lense cover to place in the front where the screen was removed if this is the case.

That's pretty cool. A lot of light there. Way more than I'd have expected.

To speak to the laws concern, IMO one has to think first about on-coming traffic. Huge liability if you cause an accident by blinding someone with an illegal light. That frankly is what the laws are about. Hence the term off-road use only w/so many aftermarket parts. Blind someone and you might have a great view of them coming at you head on! No fun in that.

That said, for off-road, that's a slick way to light the way, vs mounting aux lights behind the grill, etc. It also puts some functionality in that scoop!

Nice job OP! Good video doc too.
