i know jace (lotsoftoys) is a certified toyota mechanic and knows my truck (2nd gen) inside and out through his expansive toyota education (i'm sure he'd prefer to not punch in though, but would be willing to lend some knowledge and supervise..haha)...and there are many garage mechanics that will be there

i will have tons of tools in my truck...do not have oba for air tools though or welder...but numerous hand tools for many jobs

i always ride with a floor jack and a hi-lift as well...

i plan on having 1-2 spare cv axles and extra fluids...might grab some u-joints as well

    ...too much shit to list.
I'm not certified but I tore my truck down to nothing but a rolling chassis and back again. I know more about the 1st gens then I care to admit. I will have tools, duct tape, zip ties, and misc parts.

I have to ask, how hardcore is the group as a whole planning to wheel? Spezzy and I are debating back and forth. I feel w/ lockers, re-gearing, and armor I should be fine with what ground clearance I have. For the most part on a scale of 1-10 how difficult are we talking (1 being one tire fire easy, 10 being truggy required).

from what I have read we will decide what we as drives feel we and our trucks are capable of and go with a group of the same mentality along trails with ratings we are comfortable with. I would assume that most of us will be in the 4-6 range and a few of us in the 6-8 range according to your scale.

Very good idea. I guess it wouldn't kill me to read through a couple pages huh? Well, I'm gonna go back to filling internet shopping carts with upgrades I want, but can't afford. Cheers!

I threw this together in a couple of hours for my DCSB. Cost less than $100 at Lowes in materials. Didn't know if I was supposed to post here or in the mods forum, but I thought I would post it here. It would be more useful here. It is 3/4" ply, and is 56" X 59". The bed of the truck is 60" long, but if you don't take into account 1" for the track system, you cannot open the door to get underneath. The vertical supports are 9" tall. The first storage bin is 48" long, and the smaller is about 9". You could sleep on top of it, and still have room underneath for camping gear. The top is in four sections, the middle two are 21" X 48, and the middle right one is hinged so you can get underneath to your gear. I left it open on the sides so you can get to the factory cubbies in the bedsides, and the 110V outlet to run things that need to be ran. (Like a small fridge). The lights run on 6AA batteries each, have a common wireless switch, and are $29 at Sam's club. I am planning on getting 2 more of the lights and mounting them on strips from the camper shell, since the switch will run any of these lights within range. The carpet was an outdoor rug that I stapled down and cut with a razor knife. A long bed would almost be the same, just be a little longer, and have room for a couple more doors/storage areas near the cab. PM for details, questions, or comments.
    :)
