Quick question before I waste a trip to the dealer:

I just noticed that my back wheels are off set about 1/2 inch. That is, one tire is out (other tire is in) more than the other side. If you measure from the frame to the outside of the tire, on side is out 1/2 more than the other side.

One explaination to this is that I had the leaf spring TSB done and I never really noticed anything until today. However, they alligned the truck and it drives okay. I'm assuming they can loosen up the u-bolts and move it about 1/4 inch one way, do another alignment and all will be good.

Any of you had similiar issue?

    thanks, jed

"alignment numbers" ?? I don't think I have those unless you can tell me how to measure.

I can get behind the truck and look down each side and see the left side tire is out more than the right side. I placed a tape measure on top of the tire and measured to the frame. It's off 1/2 inch. Can you give me some directions on some stuff to measure and I'll run outside and handle this.

This is bugging the crap out of me now.......thanks for helping.

They may have, but who knows what I did with them. I could call them and ask for a new copy. Anything in particular I need to say or just the numbers? Also, for my benifit and understand, what will the alignment numbers do for you?

    Thanks, jed

Okay. I will try to get them. Could having the tires off 1/2 inch be okay or normal?

on the link posted, there are numbers for the rear as well. Guessing it depends on if the shop does the measurements for ther rear or not? I always ask them just to make sure my ubolts have adjusted themselves. I could be wrong too.

Some places do 2 wheel alignments some do 4 wheel alignments. Its correct that the rear cant be adjusted but at least you get to see what the rear wheels are doing. My alignment below

Edit: Looking at again I dont think you will be able to tell if one side is "pushed in" more than the other with what is measured though

you would be looking for something that is called "thrust angle" if a 4 wheel alignment was done. i believe on of the procedures for the TSB is a wheel alignment to ensure everything is in factory tolerances.

Thrust angle is at the very bottom of mine. How would you know if its off though? Like what would the thrust angle be if its not correct?

My truck is the same as OP's...I guess i've never thought too much into it though. I just assumed the bed was put on slightly to one side more. I'd like to know the reason for this too, now

Per the service manager, a 4 wheel alignment was done. I remember him telling me that when it was done.

I just called him after I posted this thread. He was about to leave and busy, but told me to bring it in and he would put it on the alignment machine to make sure it's right. He said that when they put on the leaf, it could have been re-installed a little off. The alignment was done after the installation, of course, so the alignment would have matched the 1/2 off. He told me not to worry about and he would fix at next oil change if it was out. However, he also told me that if it aligns on the machine, it might not be touched. I can probably change his mind on this because it is bugging me now that I know one tire is in 1/2 more than the other.

The way I'm thinking, the adjustment (loosen up the u-bolts) would only be a 1/4 inch, correct. A 1/4 adjustment should make both sides equal if one side is out 1/2 now.

    Thanks, jed

I do post a question on the forum before, a lot of members here said it is fine.
