For sure. Plus, there's a million OTHER aid programs that make it just as easy if not easier to grease the system.

But, like was said in the earlier post, all it takes is one baby to die because a politician had the balls to cut off Welfare support to people who didn't need it. Then everyone will throw their arms up and scream "what about the children?!?!" and we're right back to where we started.

I, for one, am starting to admire people who can stay on Welfare past their 5 year limit. It's capitalism in it's purest. Generate as much profit as possible for a minimal amount of effort. They're generating profit for zero effort. That's enough to make any CFO envious.

(for those who's head that went over, the last paragraph was sarcasm)

Same way they can give money to International Students. Just costs the school less because they're domestic.

    Welfare is a tax return.

I understand your thinking but that might be a bit much. Not sure we should put them in the same voting bracket as felons. The right to vote is something countless people have fought for. Being on welfare should not take away your rights.
That said random drug screening sounds like a interesting idea.

No, they collect welfare through out the year and receive a tax return on the welfare income

"Final though, welfare is supposed to be a temporary benefit until someone CAN find a job, so if you start paying people to shovel snow and pick up garbage, where’s there motivation to go apply at mcdonalds, you’ve just turned picking up garbage into their job, "

The black market piss trade will skyrocket! I saw a doc. on how people cheat urine tests and in some states their is a huge market for urine. What they do is go to retirement homes and buy urine from people. (Who thought of this, I do not know) Just on more way they will cheat the system!

    Just bought it!
I wasn't giving you an opinion that can be flawed, I'm just telling you what I and every other welfare employee sees over and over every day that the general public doesn't. If you force someone to work for $200 a month you're starting to blur the lines between employment and slavery, and yes it's voluntary, but so is employment, and we still have minimum wages for that too. I'm not gonna start going into details because this post will just end up as long as my first one, but again, I didn't write that stuff before to put my opinion out there and try to start debates, I'm just giving you an inside perspective to try and keep the conversation on topic. If you're an electrician and you see someone trying to fix an outlet with a fork, the least you can do is say "dude, you're doing that wrong..." and try to point them in the right direction, yeah? When I see people acting like they could correct every flaw in the welfare system just because they pay taxes, I figure I can offer some insight. I even have my own clients tell me they could do my job better than I do on occasion. Of course if it was true, they already would be.

Well no offense meant but alot of people (myself included) see gov. employees as insulated entities that rain or shine ,good or bad, they're gonna have a job & a paycheck no matter what as long as the tax dollars roll in , it matters not that you "SEE IT EVERYDAY".

    "You reap what you sow"

:eek::eek: not sure of the legal ramifications here, dont think they can do that unless you unwittingly agreed to it, but not really sure

Before we get into a pissing match, the point of the original post was that:

a.) Welfare is supposed to be a TEMPORARY assistance while transitioning back into the workforce. Not a job itself.

b.) Welfare (in PA) is only available to people who have children and their income falls below mandated levels, or who have a diagnosis which disqualifies them from working.

So as your "work for benefits" theory is worthwhile, in practice it's not applicable because the only people who are supposed to receive benefits are those who are deemed disabled to a point which precludes them from doing so.

So those who we would like to see out shoveling snow or picking up garbage are technically not supposed to be doing so because of their diagnosis. That's what it is for.

The problem is in the enforcement of the regulations and getting people who are able to work off the system. Which is where it gets political.

So sorry if I came across as talking down. I was merely trying to make the point the you can't put people to work who are technically supposed to be too disabled to work.
