Best headlight bulbs??

wanting some head & fog bulbs for my 2012, what do most of u use or recommend? ive tried silverstars in past trucks and they were decent, i want something with most light output i can get, and that dont blow out often!! post pics of them also if u have any

 

Are these different then the silverstars you can find at kragen?

 

what about the new silvania XFE or something like that?? i just seen them on there site and suppose to be the whitest light output....also seen some phillips xtreme bulbs

 

I'm not into "coated" bulbs claiming to give you white light....that blue film only blocks light making you think it's brighter. Do some research and most people will agree that are using hard data not perception.

Narva Rangepower 50 bulbs totally outperform Silverstar's for the same price and Silverstars like to blow out very quickly

The SSU bulb is brand new and the Narva is a couple months old.

For offroad use you can also up the wattage for the Narvas.

Last time I was camping I had everyone choose the bulb they thought was brightest without telling them what was what.....everyone chose the Narva.

I've got PIAA Xtreme White bulbs and am happy with them. I think they're brighter than the Philips Xtremes although they were decent also. Most of the brighter bulbs will have a shorter life span and even say so right on the box. They burn hotter and therefore to not last nearly as long, it's a trade off.

 

rallylights.com they will have any kind of bulb or off road lights you would ever want. You want light put in 80/100 H4's

I have Silverstar Ultras in my headlights. An improvement. Nothing like HID's will be, but don't look at those unless you're planning on a full retrofit with HID projectors.

I also have Nokya yellow bulbs in my fogs.

 

Just undo the tape on the side of the box and then pull in the directions indicated on the box. I just put 4 of them in my car last week.

 

I like them so far. They look good. Seemed to help a little in rainy conditions at night. Haven't had them in snow or fog yet. Still annoyed that I struggled for an hour trying to get them in before finding out about the gasket issue lol.

 

Yea really. Thankfully the internet exists to figure out lifes mysteries. Otherwise I probably would have just smashed the bulbs in the driveway and called it a day.

 

Can you please elaborate? Do you mean that when replacing the bulbs in the fog lights the gaskets need replaced too?

 

Got it done. Noticeable color difference and increased sharpness. Not worth $60, but a fun quick mod nonetheless. There is a blue haloish effect when viewed head on. That might be worth it if I ever saw my own headlights.

Took photos, can't determine before/after. Really need eyes on it to tell. I would buy something different next time. If the life is what I hear ~6months, I'll have that chance soon.

With a clear bulb, how much blue light does a halogen put out? Not that much. So if you wrap it in a blue filter, well, you just filtered out a lot of the visible light, leaving the little bit of blue.

 

I hope you aimed them down more then normal now that your running "offroad" only lights. I'm not a big fan of oncoming traffic blinding me

I couldn't agree more. Take the same bulb without the blue tint and it will put more lumens out farther.

I was hoping to get some new headlights that match the cool white LEDs I now have inside and in my license plate lights. Is there anything non-HID that could come close to matching that white/blue-ish color the cool white LEDs put out?

The PIAA extrwhites look pretty nice with a little bit of blue...
