I went out to buy a 2012 Tacoma and found out for 33K you don't get a locking Tailgate, Spare Tire, Lug Nuts, Glove Box, or Center Console. I ended up buying and replaced the tailgate handle with a POPnLOCK, purchased a lock for the Spare tire, will purchase Locking Lugs for my new wheels when I purchase them. Does anyone know of a aftermarket glove box or center console lock?? Thanks for your info, I leave my truck at the airport alot and have had vandalism before so I'm a mindset of security.

Not hating on you, but don't have time to do all the research. There are some mods documented for all the locks you seek. If you search I think you'll find them.

Thanks to all who helped, you are right I haven't had time to find all the locks that Toyota should have installed on my truck with the key that came with the truck.

My rottie is scared of my cat, she needs no protection. But yeah, I had not heard of even welding the bolts on. Too bad there is not an easy fix for those thefts.

Locking glove box and center console is worthless. Let them just open the box and take what they want so you don't have to replace parts from them tearing it off.

Simple trick for you, don't keep shit in your truck you don't want stolen.

There's a product called a cat clamp. It's expensive but if you live in an area where cat stealing is common, it might be worth it.

Dudes, were just asking for some help, I obviously shouldn't ask as a newbie but you don't see the basics on most 2012 are not even a mention on the new truck.

As great as they are, Tacomas truly do lack some basics. I can't believe ANY vehicle does not have cruise control standard, and I think Toyotoa is remiss in not having a cargo light (well, at least on my '08).

What's the facination with glove box and console locks ?

Is it to keep out the thief that has already broken into your truck ?

My thoughts exactly unless you want to secure a gun in the truck or constantly carry large amounts of cash or very valuable items.

There is a company that makes gunsafes for our trucks that actually fits in the center console.

It seems like a visible lock on the console or glove box would just scream valuables inside.

I think the two best options would be leave the truck storage compartments empty and open if possible, or get a console vault. Console vault won't keep them out of the truck, but could save anything sensitive once they have already broken in and isn't visible under the factory lid.

i have yet to see a tacoma with a stock locking glove box or console so the best idea is just dont keep anything in your truck.
