Accessories - Toyota or aftermarket?

Just got the call from Toyota today about my frame rust buy out, and they told me I'll be getting the check in about 3 to 4 weeks. So next week I'll be going in to the dealer to get the ball rolling on buying a 2012 and leaving a deposit for one.
There are a couple of accessories I'm thinking of getting, and was wondering if I should get them from the dealer with the truck, or am I better off getting them aftermarket. I'm sure toyota gets them from somebody else anyway. For starters I'm looking at:
Black tube steps
Bed matt
Hood protector (still tossed up between the bug shield or the protective film)
So what do you guys think?

 

Toyota bed mat and the rest aftermarket. You'll be able to save your cash to get more accessories when you don't have to pay the stealership markup. IMO you won't be suffering any quality by going aftermarket for the things you mentioned. Good luck!

 

Craigslist or on here for genuine Toyota parts. I would buy nothing from dealership unless its worked into deal.

 

There are plenty of online dealerships that sell Toyota parts for well below MSRP. TRDParts4U is where I get most of mine. It just really depends on the part you are looking for, sometimes OEM is the best fit or aftermarket will do the job and for much less.

 

I'd have them apply the 3M protective film brand new, the rest I'd go aftermarket. It will be much cheaper. I bought a bed mat through JC Whitney and nerf bars through Ebay.

 

Thanks for the advice, I was there today and passed on the accessories. I still have time before I pick it up so I'll start looking around. They told me to just let them know if I change my mind before I pick it up.
As for the 3M protective film, is it really noticable and does it look crappy? Also, can you still put on a bug shield with it on?

 

i just bought the bed mat and the plastic type hood protector from toyota and i got them for about $225

 

It's not noticable until the edges start to get dirty. Up close you can see it because it's like a clear sticker on top of the clear coat but if I could buy mine again I'd get it installed. The front of my hood is chipped up. You can install a bug guard with it also.

 

I was able to find the bed mat on the net for cheaper than dealer with no tax/shipping. can't remember where but it can be done.

Dont get the all weather mats. they suck.

 

Get an Avid step bar unless you're really set on the OEM tube steps. You can also get decent bed mats (although they dont say "TACOMA" on them) aftermarket for a fraction of the cost.

 

the toyota hood protectors are made for the tacoma which has the holes under the hood for the fasteners so no tape is needed and it looks great, took me about 15 min to put on in the dark.

 

I know lots of people are fans of the Husky liners and WeatherTechs but I really do not think the Toyota all-weather mats are bad at all. Of course, all I really need from my mats is the ability to protect my carpet from occasionally wet shoes and a modest amount of some snow.
