makes a great case. he was being payed by the tax payers of this country to do a job for the tax payers.

welfare recipients get paid by us, but have better luxuries than our military personnel and don't have to do a 1/100 of the amount of work or sacrifices.

a full 12% of the federal budget is for the category "welfare", in this chart it includes things like unemployment compensation though.. you can drill down to more detail in each category

Excellent point, which brings us to how we got here. To much government to much taxes, to much welfare, to much medical aid, overpaid elected government officials.

It all boils down to everyone with a hand out wanting something for nothing. We need a thinning of the herd. Cut all these programs 100%. Let it all come out in the wash.

Historically, we're at one of the lowest tax rates in all of American history. It's amazing that people think we pay too much in tax.

..you have to account for the net taxes you pay every year:

    -federal income
    -state income
    -local/city income
    -state sales
-SS (tax) - it's a tax for my generation because it will be insolvent by my retirement age
    -FICA
    -federal/state tax on utilities
-federal/state tax on your cell phone bill
    -ordinary dividends
    -capital gains
    -property tax
    -real estate tax

...still think we don't pay "enough"?

..and what's worse is much of what we pay gets squandered on things w/ zero benefit for the community/country (i.e. like generational welfare)

Why work? Lets all go on welfare. How bout now? People who think more taxes are the answer are funny.

We have taxes to pay for Government employees welfare programs and infrastructure.

Cut government employees in half. Cut welfare. Keep infrastructure. Why would we need more taxes if we didn't have welfare programs and government to pay for? Get it?

...yes, perhaps some combination will transpire eventually... we should learn a thing or two from you candadians right now, about bolstering GDP and prosperity (and thus, gov't "revenue") by developing more domestic energy ripe for extraction - i.e, utica, marcellus, bakken.. ;)

I would also suggest you might want to condition yourselves for a higher taxation rate

..well, if we can take out the trash, we'll have a chance at latching on to a catalyst for economic growth, like the vast reserves that are being discovered, including in my state ..then, maybe we won't need to.. ;)

Our national debt will NEVER be tackled period. EVER. So more taxes will not solve the problem it will just make people give up all together. Whats the point of working if half of what you make doesn't go in your pocket. I go back to, why work?

If the government is going to send you free money why go out and bust your ass for it?

Now get rid of income tax and raise taxes on what we purchase then you might have a chance.

So for instance if we kept 100% of the money we earned but there was a 25% on the dollar tax for the vehicles we buy, the alcohol we drink, the cereal we buy the houses etc... Then EVERYBODY will pay based on what they consume. Its equal taxation based soley on how much you want to buy and what you can afford. Even criminals will pay then. All the people who work under the table will then be carrying their fair share. Income tax doesn't work because like firearms only the honest people obey the rules.

AGREEED!! welfare should be to help while they need it. not support them with there 5484 kids. There should be more rules to this and drug testing shall be at random failure to appear or pee results in rejection.

FLAT TAXATION to all. it stands under the constitution of equal taxes. based on what you buy and what you make everyone will pay the same tax %.
