    Good thinking man. Might as well do it right the first time. I think I paid around $400 for my eibach coils, 5100's, diff drop and shipping. Then I paid another $400 or so for my 5125's and 3" All pro leafs.

    where did you get coils 5100s and diff drop for 400? thats better than what i was looking at


    also with what i am thinking about now still no need for new control arms or serious cutting since i BELIEVE im getting 3" in the front yes...

    I got my front lift from Toytec Front **I got about 3-4" of lift in the front. But it will settle down to 3"
    Eibach coils: $149.99
    Bilstien 5100: $199.99
    Diff drop: $29.99

    I got my rear lift from a local place here in canada. Found some slightly used 3" all pro leafs and new 5125's. I havent installed them yet because i need to relocate the spring hangers. Waiting for some more funds to get it professionally done.

    You wont need new UCA's, but you will have some trimming around the inside fender and bumper.

    oh, you didnt get rear 5100s, thats why your price was 100 less than mine. ok. toytec is where im getting mine from too. after it settled to 3" were you able to get the alignment back in to spec? im still using stock wheels for now, ill be good on backspacing i hope.

    Yeah i didnt get anything for the rear at that time.

    I had a spacer lift on it when i first bought the truck. I decided i wanted bigger tires so i bought some 33's. My steering wheel, cambar and caster were way off so i got an alignment, everything was way off. Then i decided i wanted to take out the spacer lift and put in some nice coils. The coils gave me about 1/2"-1" extra lift so i didnt bother getting another alignment. And they havent settled yet. Since then i havent had any tire wear problems so im happy.

    Im guessing you want some 33x10.5's or 33x12.5's? Stock rims will NOT work with anything larger than 32x10.5 i think. They will rub on the frame at full lock. You could get wheel spacers but you might as well just buy some Wheelers steelies and do it right the first time.

    Eibachs on 5100s set at the lowest seting will give more that 3"s initially. Some report as much as 3.5"s. While 96-97 models will handle it (front diff and axles), you will not be able to align it correctly without aftermarket UCAs that add in some positive caster. Without them the truck will drive like its is balanced on the head of a pin. The steering will be very light and twitchy, the truck will have a tendency to wander at higher speeds and will be effected by side winds and truck ruts on the highway. My $ .02.

    what do you mean by 96-97 models will handle it? how bad will the alignment be? should i just give up on the coils and just get 5100s? there are tons of people running the eibach 5100 set up and i didnt see them all getting new CAs

    and yes i am just getting some 33x10.5x15s

    it was a compliment...terrible in a good way. i think they are hilarious. my friend for christmas got me a sticker that says "steezy" (snowboard term), im considering putting it going up along the window edge on the passenger side lol.

    Im hoping a nice bumper will settle the coils down more so i can save the axles but the front will stay pretty stiff until then. Removing the sway bar did help get rid of some of the stiffness though.
    I put the coils on in July and havent had an alignment. No visible wear yet. But with all the offroading we do its pretty common to have to get alignments often.

    IMHO, 3.5"s of lift is too much for these trucks if you plan to drive them at highway speeds. If you go beyond 2.5"s of lift there is no way to align them properly without making handling compromises or bring them back into spec with aftermarket UCAs.

    For a trail rig this does not matter too much. For a DD, this is critical. It is up to you to determine where you fall within that framework.

    This is subjective and maybe even a little controversial but it looks to me like the newer the truck, the more fragile it is. My '02 is not nearly as sturdy and well built as my '98 was. My buddys '97 takes an amazing amount of abuse that newer 1st gens seems to have trouble with. It seems like the trucks that don't have problems with CVs and front diffs after doing the Eibach coils are all 96s and 97s.

    These are just my observations. As they say, take it with a grain of salt. :D

    son of a bitch i was afraid of that...it is a full on DD with plenty of highway every week, probably 70/30. Also i dont want the risk of having unnecessary repairs or problems. god dam you toyota for not making this truck easier to lift. it looks like i am stuck with just 2.5" with the 5100s, and i was all psyched up for my super cool eibach lift

    dont get me wrong i plan to offroad around 3-4 times a month so i am not going to mall crawl this thing by any means, so do you think stuffing 33s with just 2.5 will be a PITA?

    I don't know how I missed this thread, I just moved away from the tricities. Miss the snowboarding up there, although not much snow his year...maybe not missing too much.i remember riding at mt. Hood last Halloween!
