$8000 homebuyers credit

So, my 1 yr lease on my apartment ends in April. This was just a temporary place anyway.

Me and my wife are 23 and 22 yrs old and would LOVE to take advantage of this first time home buyers credit.

Any one else out there going to use it and buy a home this year????

 

I've looked at it but not into it yet. I read a lot and listen to business radio. Best bet to date is to go to your bank and inquire about "Bank Owned Properties". They are more than willing to work with and for you. It's in a market now where you can probably get 100% financing too. Good luck to you and yours. I have a bit more math to do and work is still light. Fingers are crossed.

 

Yea, me and my fiance are thinking about the same thing. It was $7500 and expired June 2009, but recently changed to $8000 expiring December 2009...and it doesn't have to be repaid!

Today its a buyers market still and definately the time to buy. Rates are great out there but for first time buyers just remember not to be so rate particular. Keep all options open. Make sure to do the math and realize that depending on the amount we are talking, a half to a full point does not make that big of a difference in payment and remember you can write the interest off. If you are buying new construction, think about what you want to do with the home once you move in. With that in mind watch your upgrades, for example if you upgrade light fixtures but plan to put in ceiling fans skip the upgrade. Builder grade fixtures are cheap and take whats standard then make it your own.
My Wife and I plan to buy if things pick up in my work (self employed) and are thinking of building ourselves. Good luck to all of you as its not a bad investment and face it....we have to live somewhere and if your going to live in the area for a while a purchase can benefit you.

 

Yeah, what TicTac says but I'd still wait a little longer and see were things are going, economy wise. If your landlord hasn't leased your apartment to someone else commencing May 1st, you can stay there month to month without renewal unless its different in your State. The general consensus is that things will get even worse before they improve. So, if you can wait, you may not only get a better deal but avoid a long term commitment during uncertain times.

It is wayyyy better in person...great house.

We have watched this property drop from the 160's...(thats when we first found it) The realtor said today that the bank bought it for 195000...
and its 132000.....unbelievable
