    Food for thought.

What do you think poor people with questionable morals will do if you pull this source of money from them? I'm not saying the current is working but I'm not sure this wouldn't create more crime.

For the most part the people you speak of are already out committing crime I doubt pulling benefits from otherwise non-criminals would cause a significant spike in crime. However if you eliminate welfare all the funds previously dumped into that suck hole can be shifted to infrastructure which includes law enforcement.

The problem is when Welfare starts inhibiting people. Sure, it's there for people to get back on their feet, problem is when they realize the effort in doing so isn't worth the benefits they are receiving doing nothing. Next time you see someone begging for money offer to let them wash your car / cut your grass and see the stank look you receive. Welfare>Ambition. How about some community service in exchange for the benefits? Just sayin' :)

... look and see where the section 8 areas are in your area, ..then go to http://www.spotcrime.com and you'll see an interesting "correlation"... i.e. the dregs of society mooch your money via the gubment, and then won't hesitate to also physically steal your wallet at gun/knife point - at which time, maybe they'll let you live....

What do you think is going to happen if you eliminate Welfare? You think crime is going to just stay out of the non-Section 8 areas?

As people become more desperate, they'll expand their areas of activity. So, (as I mentioned in an earlier post nobody seemed to comprehend) people in areas of greater income will eventually start paying those taxes again to keep out the riff-raff - without the added PR benefits of "helping the poor."

well, first of all, the point i was trying to make is that right now, the dregs of the welfare state already do the crimes, ..despite getting the taxpayer's money... so who's really getting screwed here????

..don't know about you but, would it be an outrageous notion for the folks (forced) pulling the cart to get perturbed for once?... why should the cart-pullers have to acquiesce to the demands of the cart-riders at every turn, ...for fear of ticking them off?... sounds like a wonderful life, ..being shackled into proping up the irresponsible, wreckless, and derelict, as a condition of avoiding "retribution" or conflict - ...how nice of the gov't to perpetuate such a shakedown..

..keep cowering and you'll be overcome.. ..sometimes, the right thing, isn't always the easy thing... ;)

Extortion at it's finest, it's what the government does best. Time for the lazy, the scammers, the politicians & the criminals to take their fucking for a change. Go make a legal living at your own expense or die trying to take from the rest who do! Only the proven legal citizen medically/mentally challenged get something free at taxpayer's expense......and veterans.

It doesn't work. Read post 218. You should be more concerned about your "hard earned tax dollars" going to Goldman Sachs.

Well for one the Euro is in more trouble than the dollar. And because of Globalization, all 20th century industrialized 1st world nations are in inevitable decline.

It's like having 2 different lakes of 2 different elevations. Blast the barrier between them, and the 2 will rush to equalize .. one going up and the other going down.

In our case, we stripped all trade barriers, giving US companies a free pass to move all jobs, all manufacturing out of their country of origin (increasing our welfare roles) to nations willing to do the work for cheap.

Nations like China, Brazil and India are therefore on the financial rise, while nations like the US, Germany, Australia and Japan are in decline. That giant sucking sound you here is trillions of dollars flowing out of the US economy and into the salaries (and pockets) of foreign workers. There is a financial equalization going on.

Meanwhile, those corporations who moved said jobs overseas in order to cut costs are reaping massive profits, but since we removed all penalties for doing so, and corporate taxes remain so low, and tax shelters abundant, upper management is reaping obscene profits, less and less of which is reaching what workers remain. In fact while inflation-adjusted wages for the bottom 90% have actually dropped since 1980, earnings for the top 1% have skyrocketed, with the super rich (the top .01%) increasing 527% over the same period.

Which bring us to your point about 3rd world nations .. One hallmark of 3rd world nations .. no middle class. And in America, the lower class is growing at more than twice the rate of the upper class.

Another mark of 3rd world nations ... they ship their raw resources out of country to be manufactured into usesable product, and then buy those products back. Something the US also now routinely does.

The point is if this nation is in decline, it's not because of the poor, brother. It's because the game has been fixed to benefit the wealthy. 47% of the men and women making the rules (Congress) are millionaires as compared to 1% of of Americans. Now who do you think they really work for?

Yes, greed knows no socioeconomic boundaries, and there are plenty abusing the welfare system for selfish gain. No argument. But it seems to me they're just mirroring our nation's role models - our national leaders and CEOs who have been raping the US for personal gain for decades. You want reform, start at the top. For one let's stop granting tax cuts to the rich.

Nice post. Informative, informational, well-thought, and true. Did the world forget that China is communist? They couldn't beat us with their bombs so they are beating us monetarily. Just throwing that out there.
