I cleaned my MAF and throttle body today for the first time.

    Bakkie- 006.jpg

At first I just wanted to clean the TB from the outside, but then decided that while I am there it is better to take it off and do the back side also. I am glad I did because the backside had the most gunk that I would not have been able to reach from the outside.
    Bakkie- 010.jpg

    Bakkie- 015.jpg

The first brush was when I started. The middle brush was almost done and the clean brush was after the final rinse. I would say it is clean now.

Can you tell any difference after cleaning them?
Also does anyone know what a good operating temp for an auto transmission is?

I don't know yet. I have not really driven it yet - just a quick run around the block.

No idea on the temperature question.

It varies quite a bit. The highest I've ever seen is when on a long, uphill section of trail, when going slow in 4lo on a warm (+80 degree) day. Mine has hit 225-230. On my backroads commute to work, typical is 130-150 or so.

I've read that the idiot warning light is set to go off at 250.

I've found this chart to be pretty accurate from personal experience... as it accurately predicted the death of a transmission once before in my life, which is a long story for another forum.

Did the oil change. Good thing I did it at my friends house, as he has a lift in his back yard shop. Those metal front plates, are gnarly to line up for assembly!

Oh yeah, I've been doing oil changes since 1993, and today I thought I bought synthetic as usual... Except it wasn't....

    quick tip

Just get all the bolts started on the skids, once you have all the bolts started then tighten them. This allows you to move things around and line them up.

As Jimmy Flanagan the ancient aircraft mechanic used to tell me, "Get 'em all started before ya smoke 'em down, College Boy!" It really helps with a piece of aluminum aircraft skin held on with 73 screws...:homer:

Umm, it should just be two 10mm bolts and then it just pulls out. You would have had to have the air box removed to get to it in the first place. I can't help wondering what exactly you just did to your truck?!

This truck is a work truck - not a lot of fancy mod's here, but it's getting the job done!
I've been posting this question on all the appropriate forums all weekend with no help, so though its about a 4runner, I'm hoping that you guys can help me out here:

"I searched for an answer before I posted this new thread.

My 03 limited 4runners moonroof is now whistling. I love having the moonroof/sunroof, but last night, my wife and I were driving home and I opened it up to enjoy to the night air - my wife asked me to close it and I did.

Once closed, it started whistling like crazy from as far as I can tell, the passenger, front side of the moonroof. It whistles at speeds above 30 mph and gets progressively louder...

HOW do I fix this? It has never done this before, I've checked the mechanisms and they all seem fine, it operates normally, is as water tight as ever (I checked by pouring water where the seals around the moonroof touch the body of the vehicle)

Has anyone ever had this problem???

    Please help!"

If anyone has any ideas on what the problem could be, I would appreciate the feedback.
