I just switched from my first 2007 Toyota 4 door prerunner to a new 2012 4 door prerunner. After 130,000 trouble free miles on the 07 I love the new improvements of the 2012. I have not experienced any of these Quirks. I only have 1000 miles on it so far. I have never had a truck I enjoyed more that my 2007 so I hope the 2012 will be the same.

I also love the new nose job.:D

I have about 1300 miles and no real issues. The steering wheel sits slightly off center but not bad. I have the JBL stereo and it sounds great.

700 miles on mine. Ok so far. 1 hard start and it seems to have been born with the steering wheel poorly centered.

Has anyone taken theirs into the dealer for the hard start? Mine has done it like 10 times now in 4500 miles. It is so random that I doubt the dealer will be able to duplicate it so I don't want to waste my time.

2500 on my 2012 and no issues other than the whistling sound at 40+ mph. As far as the hard starts go, every once and a while it will try take 2 seconds longer to turn over. But nothing serious.

As far as the stereo goes the actual number displayed for volume control is irrelevant. If the gain was factory adjusted up or down it would not effect your prefered deceble level.

I'm at about 750 miles on my 2012 and I have noticed the hard start on only one occasion. No other concerns =)

I now have 2900 miles (mixed highway and city) on my 2012 Double Cab SR5 PreRunner 4 Banger and have had none of the issues I see listed in your post. If it was me, I'd be going back to the dealer you purchased it from and getting it corrected, after-all, like what has been said in previous post, the truck is under warranty. Prior to this I owned a 2008 Access Cab SR5 PreRunner 6cyl and once again had no issues with the truck at all. :)

X2 yeah, mine does the same. Gets pretty annoying, but after a while, I've learned to tune it out and listen to the quiet radio

I have about 1200 miles now and I'm getting the drive line shutter on take off as well. I know everyone on here says it's normal but I don't think so. I'll be taking it in to the dealer until it's fixed. Another thing I have noticed is the lower mounts for the front seat belts are very loose and rattle around when I go over bumps. Also the plastic pieces for the adjustable upper mounts for the seat belts rattle with bumps and with bass from the sub. Anyone else have these seat belt issues?

Mine has about 800 on her now and I have a few of the problems. First is the steering wheel, but its only slightly off center. Second was the the passenger side upper seatbelt mount rattling. Cured that by adjusting it up and down a few times. Third is a driveline shutter when slowing down not on take off.

lol we all have the exact same problems..i know some say no, but i think the ones that notice it are like me and are just very picky and we want answers. i get the vibe upon acceleration, my blower motor fan makes noices on LOW setting, my seatbelt rattles when going over bumps, I REALLY HATE THE HARD START, and this is new for me..my windsheild wiper motor makes a friggin anouying noise now which is only heard when my truck is idling.

I have about 600 miles on my truck and I have had the hard start 3-4 times already. I also have noticed a rough idle twice. I'll mention it when I take it in for its first oil change, unless something else mechanical happens before then.

My steering wheel is straight but I did notice loose leather on the perforated part of the leather. I think an adheasive should have been used in addition to the stitching. It isn't very noticable but once I saw it....

Overall, I'm still happy with my purchase.

I've had my 12 DBL Cab TRD Sport for just over a month and 2500 miles on the odometer. My issues are pretty similar to everyone elses and are as follows.

    1. This one bothers me the most. My stearing wheel is slightly off center and the passenger seat shakes pretty bad at highway speeds. Brought it in for an alignment and tire balance a few weeks ago and both issues are still there. I don't get much if any shaking the steering wheel but I feel it in the seats. Also my truck drives straight as an arrow up until around 55+ and then starts to slightly pull to the left (Same direction as the wheel is off centered). HAS ANYONE HAD THEIR TIRES REPLACED BECAUSE OF THIS? I think that is what i am going to push for if a 2nd attempt on alignment and balance doesn't resove both these issues.

    2. Slight vibration when starting out in first gear through steering wheel. I have heard this is common and not a problem.

    3. Whistling noise heard from 40+MPH

    4. Sound coming from dash somewhere. Kind of behind the steering column and it just sounds like maybe some peices are still settling in but it seems to get worse when cold.

    5. I think my front left tweeter speaker is blown. Especially noticible when listening to talk radio and I have neever turned the stero up over 40. This is is the JBL w/Entune.

    6. I can't seem to get the backup camera to display the lines for hooking up to trailer. I'm pretty sure when I test drove one with the display in the rearview mirror I saw these line.

I've had it turn maybe an extra 2-3 times when cold starting once or twice. Not a big deal to me.

My steering wheel seems to be glued well but of course now I will be checking when I leave work.

Also, has anyone had any of these issues resolved by the dealer? I'd like to know if they can even be fixed.

    Joe

    I have longer starts too...

I guess it still hasn't been fixed in the new models then.

No money, all went to truck...
Are the hard start problems occuring in colder areas? I live in Hawaii and have not had that problem or any of the ones mentioned.

I do get a weird rattle/vibration on the low end of 2nd gear (manual trans). But I figure I'm just shifting out of 1st too early and my truck is complaining about it.

What, no one is complaining about the non-lite 4x4 switch? :D

Do you wait for the fuel pump to prime before starting? When you switch to the "on" position, the fuel pump will prime for about a second (you can hear whir).

I believe that is in the menu in the mirror, hold the power button till the menu comes up(on mirror display) and then look in there. If its not there I wouldn't know where to find it :(

This sounds suspiciously like starting a diesel.
