Is there an equivalent set up the Toytec bilstien coilovers

TW, Is there a good equivalent to the Toytec Bilstein Coilovers in these areas:

1. Spring rate (600lbs)
2. Lift capability (up to 3")
3. Cost ($799 assembled)

Was about to hit the "purachase" button last Friday but thought I would ask and then go searching criagslist, this forum, ebay to try and find bit of a discount.

Shim to get 3" but your CV's (halfshaft angles) might be happier at 2-1/2"

 

Toytec offers TW a 5% discount I believe. You just missed their 10% discount they had running. I believe it ended yesterday.

 

Eibach's and 5100's.

 

What do you mean by equivilent? Does it have to be adjustable, how important is spring rate?

There are alternatives that might be cheaper but most of the ones listed so far will make you give up the adjustability.

 

Does not have to be adjustable. I want to avoid too much pre-load. I will be replacing the 2.25" top plate leveling spacer. With the 2.25" spacer and the rear TSB my front end sits almost 3/4 of an inch lower than the rear.

Billies set at the top pre-load a ton and only give 2.5 I would still be approx 1/2" low in the front.

Definitely agree. I will be removing the spacers completely.

 

If it doesn't have to be adjustable, I'd seriously consider the OME set-up or one of the 5100/Eibach coils through Toytec. 5100's and Eibachs will put you at either 1.6" or 2.5" of lift of you can get their pre-assembled set up with a thicker top plate to get you to 3". The drawback to the Eibachs is what Ben mentioned, they're backordered...

 

This is pretty what ToyTec uses for their branded stuff, isn't it ?

Couple of thoughts....

The ToyTec "thread adjustable" C/O uses collar that locks onto a conventional shock. Before I bought into this I would go for a rebuildable C/O like Icon, King, SAW, Fox and maybe even the lower cost Radflow.
That collar system doesn't turn me on.

The OME system is always referred to as non-adjustable.
Well, IMO it's not thread-adjustable but it is "shim adjustable."

So my last question before decision is made....(even with the eibach on back order).

Other than the spring rate...what is going to be the main difference between the Toytec Bilstein coilover (red springs), and the Bistein/Eibach set at .85?

x2, that's why I asked if they had to be adjustable or not. You can't adjust the preload with a spanner wrench with the 5100/Eibach setup like you can with the Toytec/Bilstein setup.
