    Hello.

I have a '97 Tacoma. The cruise control has never been right since new. I want to check into possible fixes, but don't know where to go for information. I need to know where I can find on-line parts microfiche or similar for information about the cruise control, troubleshooting tips, etc.

    Any ideas out there?

I have no idea how the cruise control works, so any information would be helpful. I did notice a recall in '96 for erratic cruise control (speeding up, not holding speed, etc.) Mine exhibits some of those traits, but I haven't foound any info about a recall on the '97's.

My truck is a 4 cyl. with a manual transmission, ext. cab.

    Thanks. :)

my wife has a 98 4runner that had some cruise controll holding problems and sometimes it would not even come on at all, It turned out to be the clutch sensor switch was not set properly. The dealership made the fix for me and they did some adjusting on the clutch and it has worked fine ever since.

Yea, I'm thinkin' I don't know how to do that. I need to get a service manual. I was think ing there might be parts diagrams on-line somewhere so I could at least familiarize myself with the components.

I don't want to take it to a dealer either. This has gone on since it was new. I had the truck there one other time, and I was told they adjusted a brake light switch, but it was still the same after that. I never carried it back, the warranty ran out, blah, blah...

Sooner or later I'll run across somebody who can explain how it all works.

Thanks for the info. That gives me a place to start.
