Approximately 6-9 cents of every tax dollar collected goes to Welfare.

    Link to a Conservative analysis.

You want to get perturbed? Read MountainEarth's post. The "right thing" in the current state of things is to slap some penalties on allowing corporations to ship jobs overseas and tax them at a higher rate. The "right thing" would also be to inject those inflated profits back into the American middle and lower classes instead of CEO pocketbooks to create a robust consumer economy.

Here's a nifty graph displaying the breakdown of Marginal Tax Rates over the last ~century.

Want to know EXACTLY where your taxes are going? Go to this site (USA Today) and type in your income. It displays it all out and you can even compare tax rates from 1940 on. Still think we're being taxed too much?

So rail against the "free-loaders" all you want to. They are a small drop in the bucket of American tax expenditures. You talk about heads in the sand -- but look around, man -- Welfare isn't the problem.

    I didn't read all 13 pages.

What does drug use have to do with welfare?

    Drugs are bad? Maybe.
High Fructose Corn Syrup is bad. Really.
Lets make the use of HFCS illegal.
    Now lets HFCS-test welfare recipients.
    Starting to sound silly?

The war on drugs is silly.
The state of welfare in the US is silly.

Let's not mix our sillies, let's fix our sillies.

Drug use + welfare is a great political football to get white conservatives to the polls. I didn't think political threads were allowed here?

Ok, after reading all 13 pages I have a coment to make. I think that just by looking at welfare reform we are making progress. I think that instead of drug testing, more attn should be given to couples that live together and dont get married to milk the system. They have one or more kids, and claim that the woman lives by her self so that they can get help. I personally know people that do this. They recieve WIC, foodstamps, ect and never get caught. I think that if they cut down on these people milking the system it would do more than just drug testing.

...well you can deflect the OP's topic to taxes if you want (that's a whole other thread), ..but here's the reality, ...

...meet your master, ...she's got 15 kids, she's upset, ungrateful, uncooperative, and she expects you to provide for them... but hey, ..i'm sure this is just an "isolated" example, right, ..no biggie...

...well, if it's so much better w/ your "higher tax" system, maybe we should just shuttle them up to you all up north, eh? ...i mean, w/ all that revenue you got up there, they'd be able to get iPhones for the whole family! :D
