Looking for REALLY yellow 3000K HIDs

Hi, so I'm cheap and purchased a set of 3000K HID's off ebay, they aren't very yellow at all, as you can see in the picture. The right side of the truck (left side of picture) is the 3000K HID, and the left side of the truck is the halogen, I drove around a while for them to warm up, but I doubt they are going to be very yellow. Does anybody know of a good CHEAP vendor to buy really yellow HIDs from, esp and ebay seller, I've heard of ddm and slimcubby, but just trying to keep costs down.

 

FWIW, the HID's I bought from the retrofit source did the same thing at first. They were slimer green but after a good run in finally yellowed up (still green at start). Lots of glare with HIDs in the stock fogs, I hope you don't use them in traffic!

I know a lot of you guys aren't fan of DDM tuning, but i use them and the light up the street like crazy!! yea its takes a while to get them..but for the price. i love them. As of yet i haven't had any problems with them when i needed to call CS. I did call once and they answered and the guy wasn't bad to deal with at all. Get the 35W 3000K and you'll love them!

 

How long did it take them to warm up? minutes or hours? cuase I drove around the neighborhood at almost 2 last night for like 15 min, and they still look the same. And yea I can see that there is a lot of glare, I just want to use them around dusk time for looks, thought i'd change em up from my normal HID headlights

 

how's the color for the 3000K kit, because I want them really really yellow, but I would try them, it's just they cost about 3X more than an ebay set, and I really just wanted yellow fogs for looks.

 

yea everybody recommends that's the way to go, and it may be for me in the future, but right now, just trying to stay low in price, thanks for suggestions though

 

That first time I had them running for about 20 minutes and they never shifted to yellow. The next time I used them, I was driving for over an hour and when I got out I noticed they were pretty yellow. If you want that yellow look, have you considered Lamin-X or tinting the lens using spray-applied tint like Krylon?

 

looks like mine may need a little more time and usage, I def thought about those other options, but I prefer the lens clear, and when I turn them on, then they would be super yellow, rather than looking yellow, and having a whitish/greenish light

in that case i would at least try and stick with a reputable guy/company and skip on the whole ebay thing.

slimcubby or one of the other "xenon" vendors on tw can help you out. plenty of guy's on here run kits from them and have no issues and they perform fine.

the stuff on ebay is usually complete junk buddy if you trying to save money here i don't want you to throw it away on crappy gear either ya know.

your going to pay for what you get with hid lighting just something to keep in mind.

 

I can take a picture of them tonight when i get out of work if you want. They are really really yellow tho. I'll see if i have a picture of them laying around.

@ stunt man hans, yea I hear ya, I know that the ebay stuff is cheaper, but i've used 3 sets of their xentec hid's in 3 different cars, and haven't really had a problem, I wasn't as particular about colors then, but you're right, you get what you pay for.

 

@757 southpaw, if the next FEW sets of HID's dont work out, i might go to the bulbs, i just really like the output of hid's, thanks for your advice!

 

and also do you guys think the ballast has any effect on color? if I like spin615's lights, I might just order the bulbs from ddm, and use them in my xentec ebay ballasts?

 

thanks jay238, I thought about that route too, I was planning on just having the white oem look while not on, and then when they turn on, I wanted them OBSCENELY yellow, but I may change my mind later, that looks really good on ur truck.

I won't climb on my soap box about cheap HID setups but yes I would assume that voltage irregularities could affect light output.
