Hey guys just got a 2011 need an intake

So i just bought a 2011 double cab long bed sport last week and the first thing i wanted to get for it was an intake. I heard they sound mean with an intake alone. Was hoping you guys could help me out on what to buy, as far as my price range anything under 500$ is fine.

Are you going for sound alone? If so, change your muffler.

 

Get a Trd cat back exhaust bcuz aftermarket cai are just for
Braapppp

 

Either an old TRD style CAI if you can find one or the AFE Stage 2 Si would be your 2 best options. They will sound meaner when you're really on it and might slightly improve throttle response. That's about it though.

Actually, you're in CA, make sure you make sure whatever CAI will still allow you to pass emissions testing or keep your stock to switch over for inspections.

 

Eh, don't worry about emissions testing yet. Won't need to for the first six years on a new vehicle. Keep your old parts if you decide to get an intake. I have a TRD CAI v1 and it does have better throttle response though the gains are minimal by itself.

 

you dont need an intake. our trucks pull cool air in fron the front right wheel well. about as "cold" air as its going to get.

I bought an AFE stg. 2 and have zero regrets

 

Im going to look around at what you guys suggested. Im pretty much just doing it for the sound. Eventually i wanna get an exhaust too. Just cant spend too much right now, dropped a lot of $ to get into the taco

No, it will not voild your warranty but Toyota will not warranty those added parts.

 

you should get a K&N rehusable filter (about $50 ~ $60) because as Andrew said the Tacoma already have a CAI on it you just need a filter that allows more air into the engine, and you can save the rest for the cat-back exhaust, just my 0.02

 

I would save your money...there are several threads on here about aftermarket intakes. They do not improve performance, even possibly reduce performance.

I think Chris4x4 has tested air filters and there is no real performance advantage over stock.

I would put your money into new shocks, a lift, tires etc. that will improve your ride.

Or if you want sound, get an exhaust.

 

mmmm short tube headers...

Not many people seem to go with short tube headers. If you go for it, make sure you post up what you think. If I ever go for headers, they'll be short tube because I feel they'll produce more usable power.

 

I think MAF sensor problems are because of excessive oiling, I haven't had an issue with my K&N at all, MAF is not perfectly clean but nothing too bad either and no "check engine" light

 

I had my afe intake and trd exhaust installed before I took delivery of my truck, didn't know it when I decided to do that but I now have 3 year warranty on both.

 

I could be wrong, you might have a great dealership up there but I'd be willing to bet you'd have a very hard time getting Toyota to warranty the AFE intake if it ever had issues. They're fairly simple so I doubt you would but just sayin... They'd warranty the exhaust because it's a Toyota part and installed by the dealership.

 

service manager said I have 3 year warranty on both because it was installed before I took delivery of the truck.
couldn't tell you about the bedmat, I kept mine when I got rid of my 07.

 

That's not a bad deal. Some dealerships do have showroom models with lifts and such on them. I'd just hate to have to argue that with the dealerships around here. Hopefully they step up and help if you ever do have a problem, I've found it hard enough arguing with them when one of the Toyota parts fails.
