    Team,

Glad I could get all of you together quickly for this Friday meeting. Got a question on subs in 1st gen double cabs. So I've researched the various threads with some luck in finding subwoofer mounts for the 1G double cab owners, but wanted to see if anyone had any fresh ideas. I'm looking to get some subs for my 2004 dbl cab, and pretty much sold on two 8" as being the way to go, but wanted to see some fresh pic's of 10 and 12" subs mounted. And I'm not refering to the sub in the box sitting in the back seat. I know trying to squeeze something that big into such a small place (reminds me of my honeymoon) is challenging, but if we can put a man on the moon.....:D

Thanks in advance, and feel free to leave work early today.

    Dismissed!
    Jake

I have 2 6.5s behind the seat but I'm thinking about a box that sits on the floor hump and fires sideways. It would still allow 2 passengers.

I said screw the baby subs! Box is 1 cubic foot, perfect for the type r 12"...and I don't have to worry about people moving my seat backwards, winning.

If you want to get crazy with it you could do a blow through box. If not and you just want good bass but not thump very hard you could do a powered sub under the seat. or you could do a custom box by cutting the metal under the back seat and glassing an enclosure. I'm running internet via my sisters phone so I can't google pic for you but I'll add some later.

L7 has a higer RMS and xmax, amount of movement of the cone from one extreme to the other I think everything else is about the same.

I'm thinking of building a box like this but putting the sub in a down firing position and having like a tray/cup holder thing on top so that it doesn't look like a sub box.

You can check out JL's stealth boxes from what I've read and heard others say they seem to be good but no first hand experience with them. You will lose the storage under the arm rest to the box.

Blow through style. The only way to get really ground pounding bass but very expensive, labor intensive, and irreversible for all intents and purposes.

Here is the guy that cut out the metal under his rear seat and made a box for it. The 2nd gen's lucked out by having the bins already in there. If I had a 2nd gen I'd do something like Italyan and 4 8" ported under the seats.

I've got an idea in my head the I'm messing around with right now. What I'm thinking is making a box that will hold 4 8" Kicker L7's that will sit in the middle of the back seat and extend over the seat and sit on the floor like the access cab guys have available, think-a big "L" shape. I would buy 4 2 ohm dvc kicker and run it for a 1 ohm final load with a 1,000wX1@1ohm amp probably a Kicker 10DX1000.1 and put a grey, my interior color, "shell" over the subs so that you can't see them and a tray/cup holder thing on top so that it will be kind of stealthy.
Kind of like a bigger version of this:

that might be kinda difficult to do that and still be able to use your center console.
