Hobbico Acquires Axial, Team Durango And ARRMA

    Quote from Neobuggy:

North American company Hobbico Inc. today announced it has acquired three RC companies; Axial, Team Durango & ARRMA. Hobbico owns & distributes O'Donnell fuel, TrakPower, Duratrax operates Tower Hobbies and distribution giant Great Planes with some 850 employees in total. According to the press release all three companies will continue operations but one has to wonder with today's economic climate whether a different story lies beneath this acquisition announcement.

"Axial will continue to operate as an independent company from its facility in Irvine, California. Team Durango and ARRMA will also continue independently from their current offices in Ashby, Leicestershire, UK. The product lines will continue to be available through a worldwide network of distributors.

“We’re proud to bring these strong product lines into the Hobbico family,” said Wayne Hemming, President of Hobbico. “I’m particularly happy to welcome the teams of talented professionals at Axial, Team Durango and ARRMA and look forward to the innovative products that they are developing.”

“I’m excited about this new affiliation with Hobbico,” said Jeff Johns, General Manager of Axial R/C Inc., “This will give Axial additional resources to continue our rapid growth.”

“I look forward to working with Durango and ARRMA staff as well as those within Hobbico to continue to introduce innovative and successful products. This is an exciting step which we are sure will help take us to the next level” said Jason Dearden, Managing Director of ARRMA Durango, Ltd.

i wonder at what cost... more resources to continue rapid growth could mean more overhead to tap into the other types of RC cars, and bigger production...

i like the mid size companies that specialize in one thing and have reasonable prices... expansion can lead to higher prices...

although, if Hobbico goes corporate and swallows up Axial, it will be good to watch the OG Axial crew and see if they leave to start up another company...

Hobbico is going to allow the companies to work independently

Its more about distribution than anything

Hobbico is wanting to compete with Horizon Hobbies

Integy sucks, dude. STRC is a little better, but I would go with FLM or Racers Edge for aluminum.

STRC is a million times better than integy lol. All my STRC and FLM parts are both top notch. I would recommend either brand.

True. I just like the warranty you get with FLM and REM.

I'm very disappointed with what STRC, FLM, and Racer's Edge have in their product lineup. Well, more importantly what they DON'T have. Yes, Integy offers parts for almost everything but the parts they offer are crap.. I just wish these companies that make quality stuff would broaden their horizons.

Eh I don't really pay attention to the warranty on such small parts. Id rather just replace it on my own than send it in and wait for them. I'm currently waiting on an esc from hobbby king that took a crap after like a week and its pissing me off just seeing my buggy on a shelf.

I thought they had most of the necessary products... What is it that you are looking for that they don't have?

I haven't been able to find Jato parts (in aluminum) aside from what Integy sells except for Golden Horizon stuff. STRC makes a few Associated SC10 parts just not enough of them. I have a golden horizon bulkhead on my SC10 and it's took some really hard hits with no issues.

Also, my little bro has a Losi Desert Truck and almost nobody makes upgrades for those. I really don't see why not. They're pretty nice trucks.

IDK about you, but when i'm paying $20+ for a little peice of aluminum, you bet your ass I want a lifetime warranty. I'd rather send it in and wait a few days than dish out another $20. Not to mention, you can find FLM and REM parts for the same price as STRC, seems like a no brainer to me...

And I know how you feel, my Slash is waiting for parts also! It sucks!!! haha

what more could you honestly want? STRC makes all of the essential upgrades that one could do. If you want alloy arms I'd skip them and go with RPM arms instead. IMO alloy arms are kinda dumb. Plus with all of the weight that alloy parts adds it isn't always great to have a bunch of them

As far as Jato parts go, stick with OEM replacements, or RPM arms

The Losi Desert Truck was honestly kinda of a flop (Losi just slapped a new body and tires on the XXX-T, just to make something different). Hell they don't even make it anymore

    ^ x2

Not sure what more you could want from STRC. They seem to make all the neccessary parts for an SC10.
