I trimmed a very little amount from the back of mine, then stretched the rubber over the connector. It is tight and took alot of force to stretch it over, but I am hoping this allows no moisture in.

I just heat up the hole in the boot with a hairdryer until its flexible, then just put the rubber over the conector. You might have to trim verry little off the tip. In my opinion it looks cleaner and it has a really tight fit.

this is an excellent idea that way you don't end up accidentally trimming more off than you should and it makes a better seal.

Busted CV boots and lots of squeaks.
Does anyone have an extra boot? I have one spare but I cannot find my other one. I was stupid and trimmed off a little too much . If anyone has an extra one laying around i'll buy it off you. Or a part #, and where i can get one.

thanks! now that i've gotten to look over all the parts, i'm feeling a little better about it. i've done the BHLM so i'm not worries about separating the lenses part, just mostly about leveling the cutoff and securing it to the reflector bowl. i'm sure once i'm actually in there working on it, it'll all make sense.

i was thinking of screwing the projectors (fx-r's) to the reflector bowl and then using a generous amount of jb weld to seal and hold it, once the cutoff is level of course. does this seem like a good plan??

you're on the right track sir.

drill 4 holes to mount the projector onto the bowl.. then you can extra secure the screws/nuts with JB weld on the backside.

check out my sig... you might find some of the photos on the 1st page useful!

search for a thread by electronman...his pics will show you all you need to know. when i do the FX-R retros, i use a 2.5" hole saw. it centers itself perfectly on the H4 mounting point. then its just 4 holes, and 2.5" stainless hex socket bolts from ace hardware and youre good! finish it off w/ jb weld and call it a day!

Edit: make sure your rotation is good before you jb weld...its a lot harder to adjust this when there is a ton of jb weld holding the projector in there!
