I need to get a spare for my truck, I don't know anything about my current 15" wheels (backspacing or width) Do I need this info to match up a spare? Or can I grab any matching lugged 15" rim/wheel with a 33" tire and be GTG?

You'll want backspacing of 4.5 or less. 4.5" is your stock backspacing, and since you are running a 33 you are likely wider than stock.

Just swing by your local tire shop and tell them you want a spare, rim and tire to fit. They will measure what you have and provide suggestions.

Or, just go to a junkyard...they should be able to match you a rim up, and perhaps a tire also.

Thanks guys, I guess going to a shop would be the easy route, and they probably wouldn't even charge me anything for the info eh?
I don't want anything new or fancy, just need a reliable spare with some tread left for a "just in case"

Oh, and I don't suppose the 16x7 or 17x8.5 wheels i already have sitting around would work since my wheels are 15s...? What would happen if i had a different sized wheel for my spare but the same size tire? (3x) 33x12.5R15 and (1x) 33x12.5R16 or R17 for spare

It would make no difference, as long as you keep the overall diamter of the tire the same. I have 18" rims and a 16" spare.

So running 33x12.50R15, which of these will be my better option?
    16" wheel is 7" wide
    255/85R16 = 33x10.04R16
    or
    17" wheel is 9" wide
    305/65R17 = 33x12.01R17
