Thanks man. Been working on it again too. Clean the tranny. DAMN was it dirty, i fed up tho and didn't take a before and after pic. Oh well. sent my turbo housing back as well to get a strait exit one instead of the bent elbow. Hoping to drop it in the car in the next month i think.

Are you gonna go 7mge-t? or a full 7mgte swap?? The ge is a pretty relable motor actually if taken care of and after you solve the HG issue.

7MGE-T, i trust the 7M, l'll keep it as long as it keeps going, if I do swap it'll probably be 1J, I don't know how easy or hard it is to find parts for that motor though. I won't be starting on it anytime soon though, need to deck out the truck first :D

If you go 1j. A word of advice is try to get yourself the 2j ecu or just go 2j. The 1j ecu is nown to fry if you keep pushing it or if you boost more than stock on the turbo. Other than that. The 1j should just drop in. My younger brother is a big MK3 supra guy. He has a 91 with the stock 7mgte and a 90 with a 1j he bought for a pretty good deal.

What?? 1j ecu frying? Never heard of that and ive been in th supra game for like 5 years.

And i like 7ms to I was just curious if you'd just turbo your current motor or get a 7mgte motor.

If you swap, 2j is the way to go. 1js aren't worth it IMO. But damn they are pricey to get adn parts are way pricey for them too.

Sorry, let me correct that. The ecu doesnt completly fry. Just something in the ecu that control the boost turbo fries and cause the turbo to not work i thino. Imma have to ask my brother what it is though. But before my brother bought the 90 supra. He already had a 2j ecu that he was planing on getting from a friend in texas. But then the previous owner said he had went through 2 1j ecu and the 2j was what some people on the supra forums told him go get. So thats whats in the car when he bought it.

Oh ok, I didn't know that was a problem with them, havn't looked into them at all. But if that is the case, I will be staying 7M. Everyone and their mother has a 2J :D

Well you can't argue with a motor that'll hold 600hp on stock internals :p haha

But 7ms just have a HG issue and rod knock issue. If you know what your doing, you can prevent both quite easily tho. 1js just aren't worth loosing the bottem end torque over. 1.5jz are pretty cool tho..or going 2jzge-t is a cheap way to get a 2j as well.

A 1.5J is a 1J block with a 2J head right? I'm not really looking to ever have over 500hp, but yeah 2JZGE-T will be the way I go if i do that.

no the other way haha a 1.5jz is a 2jzge block with a 1jz head. And my build right now for my 7m could put me at 500hp if tuned good. We will see tho..

No a 2j heand flows better. But a 1j head is cheaper and a 2jzge block is cheaper then a 2jzgte one. So you get a 3.0l displacement motor thats more solid then the 7m. If you upgrade the cams you can get some serious power. Seen a few Soarers with 1.5jzs that rev to 10k+ and put down a TON of power. They aren't super popular tho. Takes some custom stuff and most just go with a 2j head in the long run anyways. Very unique tho and i always thought kinda cool..
