Well long story short I think I want to sell my 1 piece driveshaft to go back to a 2 piece. Im hoping it will fix my vibrations in my 07 Tacoma double cab short bed with a RCD lift

4.5 Inch RCD lift kit I had a vibration immediately after I lifted it. Used 1/2 inch 3/4 inch 1 inch 1.25 inch 1.50 inch and 1.75 spacers, Found a had a bad carrier bearing. Figured Id fix the problem by just doing a 1 piece driveshaft because 1 piece and stronger and better for wheeling. Put the 1 piece on and still had vibrations from 25-35 MPH and then again from 45-55MPH. The the 45-55 vibration is sometimes bad sometimes not as bad especially noticeable when on the gas from just a lil bit-WOT. Tried flipping my degreed blocks, tried 2, 3, and 4 degree shims all made it worse. Now I'm just running with the blocks in correct orientation and 1 piece driveshaft. figured I will just have to live with it. Anyone having similar issues?

if its a cruising vibe, the shaft might be out of balance. if it is under acceleration, its probably axle wrap and a DS wont fix it.

I had bad take off vibes when I put my 6" on with Alcans. I got a 1 piece DS made.

My take off shutter is gone, and normal driving is flawless, I do get a little vibe between 45 - 50 mph, which is shaft balance I am sure, I plan to take it back and have it balanced again at some point.

I get a nice vibe under moderate to hard acceleration, especially at WOT and I am sure it is axle wrap.

I will be adding a trac bar from Bubbuilt here soon, and I expect it to fix it.

Also, you have a ton of balance weight on there. I was see if they can rebalance it

i think the vibration i get is from my tires wearing weird. i will never own another set of firestone tires. but i had my driveshaft gone through and rebalanced and that made a difference.

no the slip joint is supposed to be at the transfer case. and the driveshaft has been balance 2 separate times so its not that

Why do you think the one piece is better for wheeling? It isn't.

Either way, I hope you can resolve your vibes... I don't really have any.

I am just guessing here. Maybe someone can elaborate or confirm my finindings from the past:
The vibes could be a lot of things but did you make sure to place the new shaft back in the same exact place as was the stock shaft? When you did your lift, did you pull the original driveshaft from the yolk and replace in the wrong spot? I had a dodge in the past with some vibes like yours. I found a bad u Joint and replaced it. I pulled the driveshaft out of the yolk and returned it into a different position. Dumbass me didn't mark the exact location on the shaft and TC. This gave me worse vibes than I had in the first place and ended up causing a pinion bearing in the rear to go.(Just my guess) I ended up blowing the tranny and all later on that year. After the new tranny, all vibes went away.

1 piece driveshaft is better for wheeling because its stronger

I pulled the 2 piece driveshaft off just like 3 months ago and went to the 1 piece. I orginally had a bad carrier bearing which was my main cause of vibs. Replaced with a 1 piece and before I took it off I marked both ends at the transfer case and at the diff. ( see white paint in pics ) Also put new ujoints in when the 1 piece was built. and yes the u joints are seated and move freely

Stronger? Uh... kay... It limits clearance, and my two piece hasn't had problems with my heavy armored truck going off road on rocks with the locker on and atrac going wild. It also supported the weight of the truck while I spun it on a rock (thus damaging it). If it was a one piece I would have never even made it that far up.

Only saying this so people don't get miss-informed that a one piece is actually good for wheeling, it's not. Unless you're building a high speed long travel truck with a built LS1... side note the boosted taco's have no problems with the two piece either in terms of strength.

    Just say'n.

Who says? One piece is going to hang down lower and get into the rocks.
It will also be harder to balance, which could be part of your problem. It also makes for a very long drive shaft, which *could mean "critical speed" issues. This is probably why My68ur8trd is having vibes on WOT.

Umm I think you need to flip that drive shaft around first. Slip yoke should be at the other side.
