Small lift good ride

I have been researching a small lift and I want a few things out of my lift. I use my truck for some off road use but I also do a lot of highway driving and some towing of a jumping jack with 2 four wheelers on it. I want something that is not going to bottom out when I am towing, something to support a front plate bumper in the future, and something that is going to ride as close to stock as possible.

Here is what I think i am going to go with...
Front-OME 886 Coils w/ OME Nitrocharger 90000 shocks
Rear-Toytec 2" AAL w/OME N182 Shocks

Is there something better out there for the price. I am looking at $779 for the parts and $370 for install and alignment. Is that Toytec AAL a good one or would I be better off going with the ICON?

 

The set up for the front is ideal for a heavier set up, like an ARB style of bumper with a winch. Its actually designed for that set up they say. But if you run this set up until you get your bumper and winch, it will be a stiff, no where close to a stock ride until you do... and if you just do a lighter style plate bumper without a winch, you may want to go down to the 885's?
Not sure how much weight your towing, so I really can not comment of the rear set up, but this will work fine with this lift.
The icons CO's will work great, give a good ride but you will pay a lot more for them. Probably overkill for most people, but a great option if you do not mind spending the cash. Good luck

 

I am looking at the ARB or the Demello plate bumper. Do you know the weight of the demello? I want a good ride but you are right the icons are double the price of the toytec

 

I believe the demello weighs in a bit over 100lbs.

 

That is lighter than the ARB. Would the 885's suit that bumper ok?

 

OP , are you going to run a winch ?

Then the 885s should be fine. A local member here had a Relentless bumper with winch, Relentless sliders, and Bud Built skids on his AC and put 886s on it but it was way too stiff so he went back to 885s with a spacer.

 

alright thank you for the help. How much does the 885's raise the front end? damn there is so much contradicting info on these forums. Everytime i think i got it figured out i end up finding something else out

 

On my 4Banger AC 3", on OZ-T's V6 DCLB 2 1/2". Both without spacers.
My guess on a V6 AC 2 3/4" without spacers and maybe around the same with spacers after you install bumper & winch.

 

I cant coment on the 885's w a winch and bumper but w/o them on a double cab they ride great. As for the rear I would spend a little extra and get the dakar springs from o.m.e. and put them in yourself. The fronts a chalange but the rear is simple w basic tools. I tow a trailer loaded w concrete, aprox 4k combo and tows way better than stock. Also have a 1200lb camper and hasnt bottomed out since.

How do the Dakars ride? my TSB's are just dickered at 190,000km, I mean, they still work fine, aren't sagged, and carry a decent load but they are S shaped from axle wrap. Looking at a full OME set up for my Access cab.

 

Stiffer than the 4 leaf pack , but not harsh . Great load carrying ability and decent flex .

 

Good to know. I could always pull a leaf if its too much I suppose. That said its a truck, im used to the harsh ride in my 82 and I haul lots of weight from time to time.

 

If you haul you will be happy with them . I'm actually going to add the OME AAL to my pack .

 

Right on. My bed mat weighs over 100lbs alone so I think I will be fine.

Its just some big old industrial mat I found, its a good 3/4" thick and steel belted, cut it to fit.

 

About 12k on mine and no noticeable sag so far and i way overload my truck on occasion. Ride well unloaded too. The only thing I dont love about my O.M.E. set up is the rake is alittle steep. Evetualy il put some spacers up front but realy dont want to wrestle those springs again. I put add a leafs in my cheokee and they didnt last long so didn't want to go that rout again w my Tacoma.
